A new trailer has been released for Torn Banner Studios' game Chivalry 2, revealing a brand new team objective map called Lionspire. The title is a sequel to the studio's successful 2012 multiplayer hack and slash game Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, which began as a mod for Valve's Half-Life 2

Originally announced during E3 in 2019, the game was delayed as Torn Banner Studios adapted to working during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As the game approaches ever closer to its release on June 8, a closed beta is scheduled to take place next week from April 23rd through the 26th, accessible to fans that pre-purchase the game. Since Chivalry 2 is expected to release with cross-play, the closed beta will have that function enabled for PC, Xbox One, Xbox X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, in order to help test out the game's servers.

First reported by Twinfinite, a new trailer for Chivalry 2 was recently released by Torn Banner Studios, showcasing a new team objective map. Named Lionspire, the map is a picturesque castle situated by the sea. Of course, the quaint setting quickly changes as knights begin storming the coast, and the bloodshed and decapitations begin. Aside from the beach setting, other locations such as lush fields and the streets of Lionspire are also featured in the trailer. These will no doubt be areas in which battles will take place before teams can storm the castle proper.

Chivalry 2's delay in development also means that the game will release on all platforms simultaneously, instead of being an Epic Games Store exclusive as initially planned. Thus, console players will no longer have to wait an extra year after the game's release, with only the game's teaser trailers for company. Previously, Torn Banner Studios released trailers teasing several new maps for Chivalry 2, including the Dark Forest, a team objective map situated in a pine forest with a fort; Wardenglade, a grassy open field surrounded by forest; Coxwell, a team objective map situated in a village surrounded by farming peasants; and Tournament Grounds, which is a free-for-all and team deathmatch map. Besides new maps, two new factions for the game have also been teased, sworn enemies the Mason Order and the Agatha Knights.

From the teaser trailers shown so far, Chivalry 2 is looking to be an incredibly promising sequel to its predecessor. While it may have been disappointing to fans that there has been a significant delay in Chivalry 2’s release, hopefully Torn Banner Studio has used the extra time wisely to polish aspects of the game that were criticized in the first iteration. Of course, this remains to be seen, as delayed For Honor, a serious run for their money.

Chivalry 2 will release on PC (Epic Games Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on June 8, 2021.
