Chris Hemsworth says he and Taika Waititi want to work together again and they were recently throwing around ideas about a potential one of the highest-rated superhero movies ever to release and is tied in second-place for the highest-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe movie as well.

In addition to garnering critical acclaim, Thor in 2011. Thor: Ragnarok is lauded as one of the most fun experiences people will have watching a superhero film, and that experience was shared by those who worked on the project behind the scenes. So, it isn't surprising that the creative team would want to return for another go-around.

In an interview with 12 Strong, Chris Hemsworth said he and Thor 3 director Taika Waititi were recently "throwing ideas around" about Thor 4 on New Year's Eve.

"We gave cheers to Thor 3. But it also was like what could we do with four? We could do this and this. We were throwing ideas around. But also, just to work together again. That was one of the most enjoyable creative partnerships I’ve ever had."

Thor 3 successfully reinvigorated interest in Thor's standalone story arc and managed to revolutionize the character on the big screen. Hemsworth has repeatedly said that he wants to see where the character's story goes next, but he says that the potential of Thor 4 happening is entirely contingent on how Thor's story concludes (or begins anew) in Anthony and Joe Russo's Avengers 4.

"It just depends on how The Avengers (movies) all wrap up. I finished shooting and now they are going to edit it and see how the stories play out. There are so many interwoven scenes and stories and characters."

Waititi exclusively told Screen Rant around the time Thor 3 hit theaters that he wasn't alongside Wolverine and the X-Men at some point in the future.
