Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Cirroc Lofton says reprising Jake Sisko is "a dream of mine." Lofton was a series regular for all 7 seasons of DS9. As Jake, the son of Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks), Lofton was one of the show's crucial non-Starfleet characters who was also deeply connected to the eclectic and sprawling cast on the space station. When DS9 ended, Captain Sisko ascended to become one with the Prophets and left Jake behind. Lofton has not canonically portrayed Jake Sisko since DS9 went off the air in 1999.
Cirroc Lofton ed Screen Rant for an interview to promote The Sisko Day, an event honoring Captain Sisko he and his Star Trek podcast, The 7th Rule, established. The conversation turned to whether Lofton would reprise Jake Sisko in a Star Trek on Paramount+ series or movie. Read Cirroc's response and quote below:
Cirroc Lofton: You know, those things are outside of my control. The Star Trek powers that be make all of those decisions... Star Trek has new people at the controls, at the helm. And so, it is possible. I'm not closing the door on the realm of possibility because I think that's one of the things that Deep Space Nine talks about, they talk about the dreamer and the dream. And if you close yourself to possibilities then you close yourself to those dreams. Sure, it would be a dream of mine to reprise the role of Jake Sisko and do it again. So I will never close the door on those dreams.
How Jake Sisko Can Return To Star Trek
Cirroc Lofton and Jake Sisko have remained popular with fans, and he has received an even greater appreciation now that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine has found a new audience through streaming services like Paramount+. In fact, a Jake Sisko return is posited by fans for every new Star Trek series, such as the DS9 crossover with Star Trek: Lower Decks or perhaps seeing Jake in the 25th century of Star Trek: Picard and its proposed spinoff, Star Trek: Legacy. Sadly, however, Jake has remained on the outskirts the growing universe of Star Trek on Paramount+ for now.
Yet there is a groundswell of momentum building for Cirroc Lofton to make a Star Trek comeback as Jake Sisko. Thanks to Lofton would prefer to play Jake once more in a full-blown Star Trek: Deep Space Nine reunion project, but a Jake Sisko return to Star Trek is hopefully just a matter of time.
