There are three main "secret" bosses in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, each of which is found in Act 3 after progressing through the majority of the main story and unlocking Esquie's full range of exploration abilities. These three bosses all reveal unique details about some of the main characters' backstories, and they all have trophies/achievements associated with them. These are the hardest enemies in the game by far, and you'll be put to the test tracking them down. Appropriately, defeating these bosses will reward some of the best items in the game. This article contains spoilers for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.The three secret bosses in Clair Obscur are Simon, Clea, and Painted Love, and while they are extremely difficult, there's a series of mini-bosses that you'll have to take on just to reach the secret bosses in the first place. You need a solid party build to take them all down, as well as upgraded weapons, Pictos, and optimized Luminas. All three bosses pose a different challenge, and they have very few weaknesses to exploit, so if you're struggling to take them down, it might be time to change up your builds.
How To Find & Beat Clea In Clair Obscur
Fight Clea In Flying Manor After Defeating The Nevrons
Clea is an extremely difficult boss that can be found in Flying Manor after defeating a series of enemies to return them to their cages in the Central Plaza. To unlock the Flying Manor door, you need to defeat four Nevron bosses that will be somewhat familiar from earlier parts of the game. These include the Lampmaster, three Eveque enemies (Flame, Frost, & Thunder), Goblu, and Dualliste. You'll be able to fast travel back to the Central Plaza by speaking with the Young Boy, and once you defeat all four enemies, you can enter the Flying Manor to find Clea.

How New Game+ Works In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (& What Carries Over)
As you finish up the final Act of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you will have the option to start over in NG+ with the same weapons and skills.
After you finish the cutscene, the battle with Clea begins, and you are in for a tough fight. Clea will begin summoning Nevrons on her turn, and if they hit you, she will regenerate a ton of health. If it wasn't obvious already, try not to take any damage, or she will end up healing. There are a few ways to offset this, such as stacking a ton of Burn on her with a Maelle build in Clair Obscur that uses Medalum , which starts Maelle in Virtuose stance and stacks double the Burn.
You can reserve Maelle's Gommage Gradient Skill to deplete a massive chunk of Clea's Health.
One great strategy for Clea is to hit her with Pyrolyse on your first turn with various Pictos and Lumina buffs to stack 60 Burn right away. You will need to include Double Burn ,
Cheater , and
First Strike in your build for this strategy to work. On Maelle's next turn, use
Swift Stride to enter Virtuose again, then use
Burning Canvas to exploit Clea's weakness to Void damage. You need to get her health bar down to 30% to defeat her, and you can reserve Maelle's
Gommage Gradient Skill to deplete a massive chunk of Clea's Health.
Defeating Clea rewards the Clea's Life Pictos, which is probably the best Luminas ive to have on all of your characters, as it will restore 100% of the character's health if they haven't taken damage since the last turn. Defeating her also unlocks the "Clea" trophy/achievement and a Perfect Chroma Catalyst as well. You can also return to the Young Boy and speak with him about Clea, and you will be able to choose which of the three female characters will get Clea's dress.
How To Find & Beat Simon In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Defeat Simon In The Abyss For The Peace At Last Achievement
The second secret boss in Clair Obsur: Expedition 33 is Simon, and he can be found in The Abyss. To access The Abyss, you need to first unlock Esquie's underwater diving ability by increasing his relationship to Level 6 and diving down into Renoir's Drafts. This is a difficult area with tough enemies, but you can technically just run past all of them to reach the other side.
There's a second portal that will take you through a tunnel to The Abyss, and once you reach the end of the bridge, you have to literally jump into the abyss. At the bottom, you'll see an Expedition Flag, and Simon will be waiting next to an Expedition journal.

Best Party Build For Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (Characters, Skills, & Pictos)
Putting together the best party build for your characters in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 can be a little complicated with so many skills and weapons.
Simon is Clair Obscur's hardest boss by far, mostly because just when you think you've beaten him, he comes back for another phase. Simon has three stages altogether, each one harder than the last. You need to plan out your party composition wisely for this fight because you won't have a choice but to use both your primary and reserve units.
I recommend saving your big-hitters for your reserve line, as Simon will literally erase your top line from the canvas in his second phase.
The initial phase of Simon's fight is difficult in itself, but it will give you a good idea of the timing of his moves for parries and dodges. You need to have parrying more or less mastered to get through this fight, as missing even one of Simon's swings will essentially one-shot you. Shields are your friend in this fight, while Gradient Attacks such as Gommage or Sky Break are essential. Use as many Counter and Gradient Luminas as possible on all of your characters, such as Charging Counter and
Charging Critical .
Simon's Final Phases Will Put Your Skills To The Ultimate Test
In Simon's second phase, all of his attacks will be doubled up with an ethereal sword, so each attack you parried in the first phase now requires two instead of one. His Speed of Light attack is the most dangerous in this phase, and it has a total of 10 strikes that each can be parried for a powerful counter at the end. When you drain his second-phase health to about 40%, he will remove your active party from the Canvas, and you'll have to complete the final phase with your reserve units.

All Chromatic Nevron Locations & Rewards In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Chromatic Nevron enemies in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 are among the hardest enemies in the game, but they drop some of the best loot you will find.
There is no way to prevent this, which is why party comp is so important for this fight. Simon's Phase 3 attacks are even deadlier, adding a third strike, with each swing requiring three parries instead of two. If you're successfully parrying, you should be well stocked on AP with Energising Parry equipped, and you should use Gradient Attacks as much as possible. The faster you can drain his health, the fewer times you'll have to perfect your parry timing, and Gradient Attacks will drain his health quickly.
Defeating Simon rewards one of the best weapons in Clair Obscur, the Simoso sword for Verso. You will also unlock the "Peace at Last" trophy/achievement and be able to access the Expedition Zero journal entry, which is required for the "Follow the Trail" trophy/achievement.
How To Find & Beat Painted Love In Clair Obscur
Climb The Endless Tower To Face Painted Love & Unlock The Endless Achievement
Painted Love is the final "secret" boss in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but you have to ascend the Endless Tower, a series of 33 different trials against most of the Chromatic Nevron enemies and other bosses in the game. The Endless Tower is pretty difficult, but not insurmountable, especially if you have a good grasp on your party composition. There are a total of 11 Stages with 3 Trials each for a total of 33 Trials. At the end of the tower, you'll face the final boss, Painted Love, who is a combination of The Paintress and The Curator.

Should You Romance Sciel Or Lune In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?
There are two romance options in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and you can only choose between Lune or Sciel in a single playthrough.
Painted Love shares a single health bar, but there are two targets, which can be beneficial but also tricky. The Paintress will absorb health with her hits, while The Curator has some fast-swinging attacks that deal high Void damage. The Curator can summon a black hole that will wipe your entire crew out, so be sure to parry or dodge this. Overall, Painted Love has very high health and will hit you with tons of Void damage, but has the same move sets as The Paintress and The Curator, respectively.
Rewards for defeating Painted Love include the Clair outfit for Verso. When you return to the square after completing the Endless Tower, speak to the Fading Woman for Maelle's Ponytail haircut and the Clea record, which is required to unlock the "Connoisseur" trophy/achievement. Completing the Endless Tower also unlocks the "Endless" trophy/achievement, and you will learn some cryptic yet interesting information about Clea, Renoir, and the Paintress. Overall, Painted Love is probably the easiest of the three secret bosses in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but the Endless Tower will test your skills.
