It isn't always clear whether you should attack every enemy in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, particularly when it comes to optional enemies such as the White Nevrons you run into throughout the game. White Nevrons are a unique enemy type that are not hostile and actually have associated quests available if you interact with them. These quests typically involve tracking down a unique quest item in the local area, or completing a challenge of some sort.

There are a handful of enemies such as the Tisseur in Clair Obscur that, although optional, seem like you should probably fight them. However, when you come across non-hostile White Nevrons such as the Demineur in Flying Waters, it's a good idea to hear them out before deciding whether to fight them or not, as you'll get a unique quest and an associated reward. Plus, completing all the White Nevron quests in Clair Obscur unlocks the "Aiding the Enemy" trophy/achievement, and opens up the possibility of a top-tier reward later on.

What Happens If You Help The Demineur In Clair Obscur's Flying Waters

Track Down A Nearby Mine & Receive A Decent Weapon

When you first come across the White Demineur Nevron in Flying Waters, it won't exactly be clear if you should or should not attack it, and you'll have an option to attack or help it. If you decide to help the Demineur, you will need to track down the Intact Mine , which is a quest item very close by. You can head to the right of the Demineur and parkour across the platforms toward the glowing pink item on the other side, and it's as simple as picking up the Intact Mine and returning it to the Demineur.

If your parkour skills are lacking, you can grab ledges and pull yourself up, so push toward the platform if you happen to miss your jump slightly.

Returning the mine to the Demineur will reward you with the Deminerim weapon for Lune, which is a pretty decent reward, especially in the early game. After collecting the reward, you will still have the option to attack the Demineur, and there are both negative consequences and minor rewards for doing so.

What Happens If You Attack The Demineur In Flying Waters

Receive An Immediate Reward, But Miss Out On A Better One Later

If you decide to attack the White Demineur Nevron either before or after you retrieve the Intact Mine, you will receive an additional 3x Colour of Lumina and 1x Chroma Catalyst, and the Demineur will permanently disappear from the area. Doing this after you retrieve the mine means you will still get the Deminerim, but ultimately you'll be missing out on a much better reward later in the game. When you enter Act 3, you'll be able to travel to an area called The Fountain and meet an NPC named Blanche.

If you want to get your hands on the secret Baguette weapons in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you might want to hang on to those festival tokens.

You'll end up speaking with Blanche shortly regardless of your decisions throughout the game. If you ended up attacking any of the White Nevron enemies, including the Flying Waters Demineur above, you will have to fight Blanche and will only receive 10x Colour of Lumina and 2x Grandiose Chroma Catalyst (this might be a Perfect Chroma Catalyst during NG+ in Clair Obscur). However, if you spared all the White Nevrons, you won't have to fight Blanche and you'll get 100x Colour of Lumina.

You Should Help The Demineur In Flying Waters

100 Colour Of Lumina Is Worth Sparing The Demineur In Clair Obscur

No matter what you decide to do, you should help the Demineur in Flying Waters. Even if you decide to attack it afterwards, completing the short side quest is incredibly simple and will reward you with an excellent weapon for Lune. Further, I'd highly recommend sparing the Demineur, and all White Nevrons for that matter. The 100x Colour of Lumina from Blanche is a massive bounty of Lumina points that will come in extremely handy even in the late game. This does require sparing all the White Nevrons and completing their quests, but is well worth it.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Fixing Its Most OP Skill, But The Endgame Still Needs A Rebalance

It turns out Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's Stendahl skill was way too OP even for developers at Sandfall, but the endgame still needs balance.

Overall, helping and sparing the White Demineur Nevron in Flying Waters is the best option. The choice comes down to whether you think the immediate reward of 10x Colour of Lumina is more valuable than the 100x you'll receive much later in the game. If you're short on Lumina points in Act 1, it might be a better idea for you to attack the Demineur, but ultimately you'll be able to track down hundreds of Colour of Lumina upgrade tints throughout Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
