One unique thing about Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is that nearly every weapon in the game is crafted to allow players to develop unique builds around them. Typically, each character has specific skills available that synergize with different weapons in various ways, giving you multiple ways to create your own personalized party builds.

Certain Clair Obscur are highly reputed among players, such as Maelle's Medalum and Verso's Simoso, both of which are widely accepted as two of the best weapons in the game. However, there's a whole swath of equally excellent weapons to experiment with, and you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not checking out alternative options and trying out new builds. The selections below highlight just how unique and diverse each individual weapon is in Clair Obscur and how dynamic the weapon system is overall.

10 Ballaro

Reverse Monoco's Bestial Wheel & Pump The AC

class build. Ballaro provides a steady stream of AP for the whole party while also reversing the Bestial Wheel order. While the change of direction doesn't really change much in of gameplay, except for how you strategize your skills, both Level 10 and 20 upgrades are a reliable source of AP generation for your party.

The AP bonuses from Ballaro do not apply to Monoco, so don't rely on the weapon as a source for his AP generation.

The trick with this weapon is to ensure you have at least one skill of each type that is also not too expensive in of AP cost. You will also need to make sure Monoco himself is buffed with AP bonuses from Luminas, otherwise, you won't be able to capitalize on ugraded skills in each mask.

9 Corderon

Embrace The Curse As Sciel

Corderon is one of Sciel's most unique weapons, and it's probably slept on because it comes with a lot of risk. The weapon automatically applies a "curse" to Sciel that also gives her a 50% damage buff. The catch is that when this curse wears off, she dies, making it imperative that you at least have the Level 10 upgrade unlocked, which extends the curse once Sciel enters Twilight state.

In my view, Corderon gives Sciel an easy automatic 50% damage increase at no cost, and as long as you are regularly entering Twilight state to fend off the end of the curse, there aren't any other downsides. You also get an additional turn when entering Twilight once you've upgraded Corderon to 20.

8 Danseso

Defeat The Chromatic Danseuse For This Underrated Verso Weapon

The Danseso weapon for Verso is a major underdog, but it is one of the better mid-game options you're going to come across. Danseso is an excellent option for any Burn-based party build that utilizes Burns stacks and fire-based skills. You will need to ensure Verso has the Powerful buff at all times if possible, which can be achieved through his Powerful skill or through various Lumina effects and/or Pictos.

Will There Be DLC For Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's creative director and CEO Guillaume Broche says DLC has always been a plan, but game's success delays it a bit.

Danseso is acquired from the Chromatic Danseuse enemy, which can be found in Old Lumiere after defeating Renoir during Act 2 at the Manor. After returning to the entrance of Old Lumiere, you'll find a new path to the Chromatic Danseuse, and you can even exploit a Clair Obscur glitch that allows you to farm a ton of Colour of Lumina while you're there.

7 Glaceso

Perfect For A Critical Hit Verso Build

as Frozen Hearts, and by the time you are able to collect it, it's the best Critical Hit-based weapon you can find. You'll want to ensure that Verso is around 100% Critical Rate to make the most out of Glaceso, as you'll be able to rank up considerably faster, assuming you land a Critical Hit each time.

While there are better options for Verso and Critical Hit-based builds in the endgame, your best bet in the mid-game is definitely Glaceso. Glaceso also deals Ice damage, which comes in handy against quite a few enemies at this stage as well.

6 Glaisum

One Of Maelle's Best Defensive Weapons

Glaisum is another excellent mid-game weapon that most players won't even take a second look at if they already have the Medalum weapon. Maelle is actually pretty viable as a class, though this isn't a very popular build, considering she has such high damage-dealing potential. Glaisum can be used to great effect, particularly the status-clearing effect gained from the Level 20 upgrade.

Utilize Pictos and Luminas that synergize with the Shell buff from the Level 10 Glaisum upgrade, which applies Shell anytime Maelle switches out of Virtuose stance.

Glaisum is acquired in Falling Leaves, which is a mid-to-late-game area well worth exploring. You can also get Lune's excellent Scaverim weapon there, which is easily one of her best options in the game. Glaisum isn't the top choice for Maelle overall, but it can be an excellent weapon for a specific type of party setup that features Maelle as the core healer.

5 Grandaro

Tank Monoco Out & Absorb Hits For Party AP

Grandaro is often overlooked as a weapon for Monoco, but I would argue it's one of the best in the game. This weapon emphasizes Heavy Mask skills, and it's top-tier because it will automatically start Monoco off in battle with three turns of Shell. More significantly, every time you take a hit with Grandaro equipped, you gain 1 AP with the Level 20 upgrade.

A fan-made Pictos tracker is available for free, and it will make your time playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 a whole lot easier.

The difficulty of maintaining a steady supply of AP is generally considered one of Monoco's biggest shortcomings, while he's also one of the best characters to buff up defensively for tanky builds. This is great for a lazy man's Monoco build in that you can buff him up with Shell automatically, and if you invest heavily in Defense and Health, he will easily be able to absorb hits and generate AP each time, ensuring he'll be able to more consistently use each of his equipped skills.

4 Lithum

As Good As Medalum, If Not Better

While Medalum is typically considered the go-to weapon for a solo build in Clair Obscur, Lithum is an arguably much better option that can be acquired by completing The Reacher, a level that's part of Maelle's relationship quest. This weapon is ideal for a Mark-based build, and can be used to get some of the highest damage in the game even more damage than Medalum, if properly set up. The trick is to have nearly every Mark-based Lumina buff equipped to fully benefit from hitting Marked targets and constantly applying Mark.

If you can find the right rhythm and land counterattacks consistently, it's possible to constantly switch into Virtuose stance nearly every turn and prevent Mark from being removed as a result. You will also benefit from Shell and having as many Shell-based Luminas active, since each time you leave Virtuose stance, you'll receive another Shell buff as a result.

3 Minason

Here Comes The Sun With Sciel's Most Underrated Weapon

The Minason weapon is one of Sciel's most interesting underrated weapons, and as opposed to most weapons, which emphasize the Twilight state, it shifts focus to her Sun skills. You'll need to set Sciel up with a healthy arsenal of Sun skills and forget about entering Twilight state, instead focusing on stacking as many Foretell as possible with either Base attacks of Sun skills and then hitting targets with End Slice or Dark Wave to consume Foretell. End Slice can be reserved for tougher enemies, as it gains a damage boost for each Foretell consumed during battle.

You need to shoot all the glowing crows in the area to trigger a secret boss fight with the Chromatic Chapelier, easily the most annoying boss in the game.

You'll be able to steadily supply Sciel with AP after stacking Foretell up each turn, and Sun Skills will deal massive damage if you can stack to 20 Foretell quickly. This is a slightly more complicated weapon for Sciel than some of her other options, but ultimately can be used to great effect once you figure out how the rhythm works. The Minason can be found after you complete the main story mission in Old Lumiere and is located in The Crows area on the west side of the Continent, south of The Reacher.

2 Redalim

An Early Available Healer Weapon For Lune

Chromatic Danseuse enemy and farm it for as many Colour of Lumina as you can. The Redalim is ideal for Lune as a character in your party, giving her guaranteed Light and Ice charges.

Make Sure You Revisit Old Lumiere In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Of all the major areas to go back and explore during Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Old Lumiere is one you need to put at the top of your list.

Redalim will also give Lune an additional turn every time she uses a healing skill that consumes Stains. The best healing skills to use with the Redalim are Typhoon, Healing Light, and Rebirth. You don't necessarily need to worry about the specific Stain types generated as long as you are reliably producing Light Stains, which are essentially wildcard Stains that count as any element. Redalim is available relatively early and is one of the better weapons you can find soon in the main story.

1 Troubadim

Turn Lune Into A Free Aim Sharpshooter

One of my favorite Lune weapons and easily one of her most underrated is the Troubadim. Troubadim is picked up extremely early and is an excellent Free Aim style weapon for Lune that can be very effective in the early to mid-stages of the game. You can get this one in Flying Waters, but it can also be picked up in the Forgotten Battlefield and Flying Manor later on.

Troubadim buffs Lune's Free Aim shot to deal damage to an additional random target and eventually will have an automatic 50% damage bonus with Free Aim shots. In the mid-to-late-game, this weapon can be effectively used to reliably generate Stains in a single turn thanks to the Level 20 upgrade. The fact that this is available so early on and is viable throughout each Act is why I'd consider it one of the most underrated weapons in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
