All Journal Locations In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

There are quite a few journals to collect in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and they are scattered across the entire Continent in some of its darkest reaches. If you want to collect all of the journals, you will need to explore the game very thoroughly and head into as many areas as you can. Some journals can be found on the Continent overworld itself, while others are located in the toughest endgame areas, such as Renoir's Drafts. Collecting all the journals from prior expeditions rewards you with the "Follow the Trail" trophy/achievement.

Expedition journals are scattered across the continent, and you'll need to explore Clair Obscur as much as possible to get them all, including all the locked Manor rooms. These can be unlocked by going through the Manor doors located in different areas, which you can enter and be transported to a different room back in the Manor. Journals typically provide insight into expeditions past, though there are a few "secret" journals that add depth to the larger backstory, including details about Aline.

There are a total of 49 different journals in various locations around the Continent. You'll find journals as you advance the main story and while completing side quests or other objectives, such as finding all the Lune's relationship quest and is required to advance her story and relationship to level 7.

As you finish up the final Act of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you will have the option to start over in NG+ with the same weapons and skills.

The journals located inside the Manor require you to enter the respective Manor doors found across the Continent, with the exception of the Unknown Journal #3, which requires finding a unique quest item in Act 3. A handful of journals are found on the Continent overworld where you can explore with Esquie, so be sure to investigate all the side areas, beaches, and especially the floating areas in Act 3 before you return to Lumiere for the final mission.

How To Get All Journals In Clair Obscur

You Need All Of Esquie's Abilities To Get Every Journal

To get all the Journals in Clair Obscur, you'll need to have access to the full range of exploration abilities, including Esquie's underwater diving ability which is acquired by increasing his relationship to Level 6. You need to find an area called Renoir's Drafts and navigate your way through to The Abyss, but be careful, this is a tough endgame area and the final boss, Simon, is not for the faint of heart. Make sure you are properly leveled and set up for a fight before taking Simon on. After defeating him, you can collect the Simon journal.

Simon drops the Simoso weapon which has a Level 20 upgrade that won't let Verso die if at least Rank A, and is one of the best weapon options for Verso if you are struggling with dodges and/or parries.

You will also need to enter The Reacher tower area to find the doorway for the Manor to access Unknown Journal #2, while you'll need to fly up to the Canvas area in Act 3 to find the necessary quest item for Unknown Journal #3. The missing canvas portrait from the Manor is found there and can be placed back in the frame to access the journal in The Painting Room. Overall, these are the trickiest journals to track down compared to the others, but once you grab them, you'll unlock the "Follow the Trail" trophy/achievement in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
