Raymond provides comic relief during Cobra Kai season 2. While selling a mirror to Johnny, he's impressed by the customer's Metallica t-shirt and awkwardly implies that he would like to develop a friendship. So, when Raymond shows up the Cobra Kai dojo wearing a neckbeard braid, it becomes evident that he wants Johnny to help him establish a new identity. Soon after, the "Stingray" moniker is introduced, which suggests that the bearded character is ready to leave his old life behind.
Stingray's absence in Cobra Kai season 3 premiere, Principal Lopez speaks at a PTA meeting, and tells a concerned parent that "Mr. Stingray" never worked at the school. He also suggests the Raymond has some pending legal issues ("probation") and that he's not allowed to be within 500 feet of any child.
Richard Jewell: a real-life security guard who discovered explosives at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, only to be falsely accused as terrorist. In Cobra Kai, Stingray's behavior suggests that he could be a stalker, as he first tracks down Johnny and then wants to be near the Cobra Kids at their school. In reality, though, Stingray may be lacking friends in his personal life, which explains why he s Johnny's dojo.
After committing acts of violence again children, it's highly unlikely that Stingray will end up training with Johnny or Daniel LaRusso in Cobra Kai season 4. However, the character could return in a reduced role, perhaps in redemption story subplot. But given that Ha will appear in several feature films throughout 2021, and undoubtedly has more in the works, he may just choose to leave Stingray in the past for now. By Cobra Kai season 5, perhaps enough time will have ed to justify the character's return.
