Warning: SPOILERS for Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2
The Karate Kid movies, with the students of Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai all competing in the international Sekai Taikai tournament in Barcelona, Spain. Naturally, Miyagi-Do team captains Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mo) and Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) made it to the championship finals of the Sekai Taikai and need to train for their big fights.
Sekai Taikai tournament finals match-ups between the dojo captains. Robby was slated to fight the imposing Axel Kovačević (Patrick Luwis) of the Iron Dragons, while Sam was scheduled to fight Tory Nichols (Peyton List), her old Cobra Kai rival. Unfortunately, senseis Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) were back to bickering until Miguel Diax (Xolo Mariduena) got them on the same page. With Miyagi-Do's senseis united, Cobra Kai launched into a classic trope inspired by The Karate Kid and its predecessor, Rocky.
Sam & Robby Get A 1980s-Style Training Montage In Cobra Kai Season 6
Cobra Kai's Training Montage Nods To The Karate Kid & Rocky
Johnny and Daniel lead Sam and Robby through a rousing training montage in Cobra Kai season 6, episode 10, "Eunjangdo" that nods to the teenage Daniel's training in The Karate Kid. Robby and Sam run through the streets of Barcelona, practice their kata over the city, and spar within palaces and on castle grounds. Cobra Kai's training session brings an international flair to the classic training montage in The Karate Kid where Daniel practices the crane kick on the beach and learns balance on a boat while performing Miyagi-Do's kata.

Cobra Kai Season 6 Cast & Character Guide
Cobra Kai season 6 marks the return of many cast of previous seasons, many of whom remain its primary leads while others get less screen time.
Of course, Sam and Robby conclude their training montage by running up the steps of a museum and raising their arms in victory, which is directly lifted from Rocky, as is the part where the captains run through Barcelona's streets. Rocky pioneered the uplifting training montage, and The Karate Kid was a remake of Rocky's proven sports movie formula. Cobra Kai's DNA is rooted in the 1980s when Johnny and Daniel were teenagers, and Cobra Kai has always honored its Me Decade movie roots throughout all 6 seasons.
The Karate Kid Still Has One Of The Best Training Montages In Cinema
Daniel-san's Original Training In The Karate Kid Is Still Inspiring
The Karate Kid's training montage remains a classic, and it's one of the best sequences of preparing for a competition in cinema history. Set to the calming melody scored by Bill Conti, Daniel-san's training in The Karate Kid was about finding balance and gaining self-confidence. Instead of heart-pumping action, LaRusso's training montage where he practices the crane kick on the beach and performs kata on a boat in a lake conveys how Daniel-san is growing as a person and absorbing the inspiration from his sensei, Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki "Pat" Morita).
Barcelona offers a visually splendid backdrop for Sam and Robby's training montage.
Cobra Kai has worked in entertaining training montages throughout all 6 seasons that have drawn from The Karate Kid and Rocky, but they have all taken place in the San Fernando Valley or the beaches of Los Angeles. Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 takes full advantage of its European locale, and Barcelona offers a visually splendid backdrop for Sam and Robby's training montage. Cobra Kai season 6's Barcelona training montage shows just how far Myagi-Do has come while never forgetting their 1980s movie roots from The Karate Kid.
