Thedetails have been steadily coming out prior to its November 13 release date.

Last week, Activision highlighted many facets of the game's multiplayer in a 4-hour Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War stream that did its best to generate even more interest in classic Call of Duty multiplayer modes, as well as various new directions the game will venture towards. Typical Team Deathmatch and Domination modes had their time and demonstrated how core gameplay would shake out. The reworked perk loadout system created some level of controversy and division, taking a much different direction from previous titles. New game modes like VIP and Fireteam also inspired a mixed array of confidence and doubt, but the integration of progression with Call of Duty: Warzone definitely showed itself to be a promising component for online players.

After Call of Duty's pulse-pounding campaign gameplay reveal during the Playstation 5 Showcase earlier today, Raven Software Creative Director Dan Vondrak announced that this weekend's multiplayer alpha of Call of Duty: Blacks Ops Cold War will be made available exclusive to Playstation 4 owners only. This announcement followed an intense trailer for one of the game's single-player campaign missions, with the player ing a spec ops team as it pushes and drives through an intense firefight on a Turkish airstrip. The trailer definitely sparked some interest in the intensity of the campaign, however no additional multiplayer footage popped up during the PS5 Showcase.

Though the release of the alpha is a couple of days away, Playstation 4 owners can begin ing the multiplayer content right now so that it's ready to go on Friday. Given that the game was already announced to be cross-generational, this announcement isn't terribly surprising, but is exciting news for players getting ready to sink their teeth into both the new Call of Duty and the Playstation 5.

Vondrak didn't specify the multiplayer modes that would be available, but there was a mention shortly before the announcement about in of multiplayer gameplay. The internet has been getting quite a few looks at Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War over the past weeks, and while the latest trailer didn't do much to give us more on multiplayer, the alpha certainly will.
