Developer Raven Software's latest Warzone's original Season Four rollout and, as many fans can attest, it quickly proved an overpowering addition to the online battlefield.
Not long after the advent of Season Four, Warzone community began calling for Raven Software to nerf the MG 82. Even ground loot versions of the weapon proved formidable at medium range, fans noted on Reddit. Other s likened the new LMG's power to that of the pre-nerf DMR, which itself required multiple balancing patches. Fortunately, as promised, Raven has already unleashed a Season Four update that reduces the MG 82's damage output and range capabilities.
The latest Season Four patch for Warzone, which deployed on June 22, introduced a host of changes to the MG 82 LMG. According to patch notes issued by Raven Software, the weapon's maximum damage decreased from 30 to 29, while the minimum damaged went from 28 to 27. Maximum damage range took a hit, too, courtesy of a 20 percent reduction. In addition, the MG 82 headshot multiplier dropped from 1.3 to 1.2. The upper chest multiplier decreased from 1.1 to 1. Raven reduced the extremities multiplier of 1 down to .9. And, finally, vertical and horizontal recoil has increased. The studio also noted that it's "keeping a close eye" on Warzone's Nail Gun, given that it may kill one bullet faster than it probably should. Therefore, a future update could see the team "push and pull" the Nail Gun's functionality, though nothing is set in stone as of yet.
Similar to other OP weapons of the past, Call of Duty: Warzone's MG 82 LMG may require more balancing patches down the line. If so, the community will more than likely be quick to notify Raven of such a necessity.
Season Four patches are doing more than tackling weapon nerfs. Fans recently learned that an update fixed the near-invisible Roze skin issue that's been plaguing competitive matches in Warzone off and on throughout much of the year. Since Season Four remains in its early days, Raven is bound to issue other noteworthy fixes in the weeks ahead.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available as a free-to-play title on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
