Before Warzone Pacific map Caldera when Call of Duty: Vanguard is integrated with Season 1.

The Vanguard integration will send Warzone players back into WW2 action, with all of the new weapons from Vanguard available to use on the new map. The integration will also mark the arrival of the much-needed RICOCHET anti-cheat software that should hopefully put an end to Warzone's serious cheater problem. Vanguard and Warzone Season 1 will be the biggest overhaul the battle royale title has ever had and should entice new players to the game, as well as old players who became tired of its persistent flaws.

Verdansk has had a lot of changes since it first appeared, and some have been better and more memorable than others. Since launching, the map has had multiple new buildings (and plenty removed or changed). New vehicles have been added, satellites have crashed into the ground, the setting has gone back in time, and there have been multiple limited-time events. Warzone's story connected to Black Ops Cold War too, focusing on the conflict between characters Adler and Stitch. However, it is now time to say goodbye Warzone Season 6 brings the end of Verdansk.

Verdansk '84 Made The Biggest Changes to Warzone To Date

Call of Duty Warzone map Verdansk in 1984 update

Warzone and Black Ops Cold War Season 3 was a new era for Call of Duty's battle royale. The Verdansk map was sent back in time to the Cold War and 1984, bringing lots of changes to locations. Popular locations were changed, such as the Quarry area becoming Salt Mine, which sealed entrances and added areas that had not been mined away or filled in. Many of the areas were stripped-back to being under construction, which reduced the number of hiding spots and gave players a greater level of vertical access to different positions. On top of that, Verdansk '84 incorporated maps from previous CoD titles, including Summit and Grid.

The feel of Warzone changed drastically with the update, largely in part to the color changes that happened in the Warzone '84 update. Previously Warzone had been very grey in color, with lots of concrete buildings scattered within the countryside or forest. With the update, Verdsank became much more yellow in color, and it also brought visibility improvements after some players had complained about models not contrasting well with the environment and the sun being too bright. Verdansk '84 was a big change that improved a lot of things in Warzone, but that was back in April 2021 and lots of fans once again want something new.

Haunting Of Verdansk Events Were Warzone's Best

Call of Duty Warzone Ghosts of Verdansk Mode Explained

Two of the best Verdansk moments came during the Haunting events when the map was plunged into darkness over Halloween. The first haunting of Verdansk event came in season six reloaded of Warzone and Modern Warfare and was the first time players had seen a Halloween-themed event in CoD. The return of the event was confirmed in the Black Ops Cold War Season 6 roap with some changes. The limited-time mode featured Verdansk at night, and when players were killed they were sent back to the map as a zombie, or as a ghost in the second version, needing to recover souls of fallen players to respawn as a human.

The mode was a fun change from the normal pacing of Warzone, with the Zombies/Ghosts being able to leap huge distances across the map without taking any fall damage. The mode become scarier with the addition of the 'trick or treat' reward system, which added loot boxes on the map which would sometimes give a player a jumpscare. The first haunting event also saw the first collaboration with movies, allowing players to purchase player skins from Saw and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, with the second season of Warzone also having skins from Scream and Donnie Darko. Hopefully, in 2022, there will be a Haunting of Caldera mode for Halloween.

John McClane And Rambo Were Perfect Additions To Warzone

Rambo Character Skin from CoD Black Ops Cold War and Warzone

The haunting events were not the only ones with recognizable movie characters being added to the game, with the '80s Action Heroes event adding some explosive characters. The event came in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone's Season 3 reloaded, adding Die Hard's John McClane and the version of Sylvester Stallone's Rambo from Rambo: First Blood Part II. The event added the limited-time mode Power Grab which pitted 100 players against each other in a smaller area of the map, forcing players to focus on fighting opponents and collecting dropped dog tags to revive teammates and earn rewards. Players could also complete various '80s action heroes challenges in Warzone and earn themed rewards.

Power Grab was a good change of pace to the normal battle royale mode, but the event made bigger changes with some notable new locations in Verdansk. There were Rambo-style survival camps dotted around the map as well as CIA Outposts that were seen in the films. The biggest change came from Die Hard's setting Nakatomi Plaza being added to downtown, allowing players to scale and shoot around the same giant building Bruce Willis' John McClaine did in Die Hard.  Having iconic action movies in Verdansk was very cool, and with a lot of WW2 movies to choose from, something similar could happen in Caldera.

The Verdansk map has had a lot of cool changes and events in the 19 months since it first launched, but now it is time for a change. The WW2 Pacific Caldera map and Vanguard integration bring multiple Warzone changes which should make the game feel almost brand-new to a lot of players. If the RICOCHET anti-cheat is successful, and the Caldera map is not plagued by bugs and glitches, then Call of Duty: Warzone may see a serious uptick in its player base for a while. Eventually, however, new things will be needed to be added to the new map, and players could see some of the Verdansk events happening again on Caldera.
