Code 8: Part II reunites Connor (Robbie Amell) and Garrett (Stephen Amell), and it finally gives the former justice after Code 8’s unfortunate ending. Five years after the release of the sci-fi action movie Code 8 comes a sequel that continues the stories of Connor and Garrett, two men with superhuman abilities who use them for very different purposes. Both Code 8 movies are an expansion of the 2016 short film of the same name, set in a world where 4% of the world’s population have superhuman abilities, but over the years, they have been seen as menaces and forced to live in poverty.

After taking down crime lord Marcus at the end of Code 8, Code 8: Part II sees Connor and Garrett teaming up again to protect Pav (Sirena Gulamgaus), a young girl with unbelievable superhuman abilities. Pav has become the target of the Lincoln City Police Department, led by Sergeant Kingston (Alex Mallari Jr), who implemented a new program involving companion robots that weren’t as harmless as he promised to Lincoln’s citizens. Code 8: Part II has a couple of twists and turns in Connor and Garrett’s complex relationship, but in the end, justice is given to Connor.

Code 8: Part II's Ending Flips Connor & Garrett's Roles For The Better

Although it made sense for Connor to be in jail as he was an accomplice, it wasn’t fair that Garrett was still free.

In order to take Marcus down and free Nia (Kyla Kane) in Code 8, Connor made a deal with Officer Park (Sung Kang) and so he and Garrett set the plan into motion. Connor and Garrett killed Marcus, with Garrett taking the Psyke and Connor running away with Nia so she could heal his mother, though ultimately, Connor changed his mind and let his mother go. Garrett took over the drug trade now that Marcus was gone, while Connor, as part of the deal with Park, was sent to prison.

Although it made sense for Connor to be in jail as, after all, he was an accomplice, it wasn’t fair that Garrett was still free. This disparity is more evident in Code 8: Part II, with Connor getting out of prison and taking a job as a janitor at a community center run by Mina (Jean Yoo), a friend of his mother and also a Power. Meanwhile, Garrett kept running his “ethical” drug empire, through which he had also built a community.

In addition to that, Garrett had a deal with Kingston, in which he gave him part of the money he earned from producing and selling Psyke in exchange for Kingston letting him sell it without repercussions. Fortunately, Code 8: Part II gives Connor justice for all this by flipping his and Garrett’s roles at the end. Code 8: Part II ends with Pav fully recovering from getting shot at the Towers and Connor taking over the community center with Pav’s help. On the other hand, Garrett was sent to prison, and he didn’t seem too mad about it.

Connor is now truly helping the community in harmless ways, contrary to how Garrett believed he was helping through his “ethical” drug empire. Garrett has never been the most reliable guy, and he took antagonistic turns throughout Code 8: Part II, so it’s fitting that he’s finally paying for what he has done.

What's Next For Connor & Garrett After Code 8: Part II

Code 8 Part II Garrett looking through a window

Code 8: Part II gives satisfying closure to Connor and Garrett’s stories, but it can still make way for a sequel. Code 8: Part III isn’t confirmed yet, but if it was, there are a couple of paths it could take. The social disparity between humans and Powers is still present, and Kingston’s arrest won’t put an end to the police’s tracking of Powers. This could bring more trouble for Connor (and Pav), even if he already has a job at the community center. As for Garrett, it’s unknown what happened to his drug empire, but his imprisonment won’t stop the production and selling of Psyke.

Garrett could still be managing his empire from prison, and it could be that Connor could need his help once more, though that could lead him to break a couple of rules. Code 8: Part II left a couple of questions that a sequel could answer, but at the same time, it gave satisfying endings to both Connor and Garrett.
