Blambot founder Nate Piekos has written a new book, titled The Essential Guide to Comic Book Lettering, which promises to be a one-stop resource for aspiring letterers. Blambot is the brainchild of Piekos and is one of the internet’s premiere resources for fonts and other lettering resources. While creating his own indie comics in the late 1990s, Nate needed affordable lettering fonts for his books. Drawing on knowledge from his college courses, he began creating his own fonts, and took it online, creating Blambot.com, which ultimately put him on superstar artist Mike Allred’s radar. Allred, who was at the time drawing X-Force for Marvel, recruited Piekos for lettering duties.

This led to lettering work at nearly every major North American comic book publisher; Blambot has also become an industry resource for letterers, and the company's designs and fonts have been used by companies outside of the comics industry as well, including The New Yorker, Sony and Microsoft. Piekos and Blambot have more than 20 years of knowledge and experience; they also have a proven track record of success and they bring that wisdom to readers in The Essential Guide to Comic Book Lettering.

The lettering process is indeed often overlooked, but that is changing. There has been a trend for letterers (and colorists as well) to get creator credit on covers. And while there are numerous how-to books on other parts of the comic book creating process, good guides on lettering are still scarce. Nate Piekos and Blambot are going to fill that gap with The Essential Guide to Comic Book Lettering. Blambot has become an industry leader in lettering, and aspiring letterers will benefit greatly from this book.

Letterers play a critical role in the comic book creation process, and The Essential Guide to Comic Book Lettering promises to be an exhaustive guide for those who wishing to break into the field. Featuring a forward by acclaimed letterer Tom Orzechowski, Blambot will release the book in comic shops October 20th and bookstores October 26.
