There are several things to keep in mind when building cookies and teams in Cookie Run: Kingdom. Every team needs a good balance of frontline, , and damage-dealing characters, and cookies need different toppings and beascuits in accordance with their skill set. It's also worth keeping buffs granted from certain cookie combinations in mind, as well as any synergy effects depending on the game mode.

Elements may be a little harder to grasp. CRK doesn’t have a standard system where certain elements are stronger or weaker against others, which fans of other games may be used to. Learning how elements work in Cookie Run: Kingdom and when and where they prove most useful can be the key to developing a strong strategic approach overall.

Cookies Can Deal Different Types Of Damage

Cookie Run Kingdom Pure Vanilla Cookie Light Element

Some cookies in Cookie Run: Kingdom have a certain element assigned to them. This is indicative of the type of elemental damage they deal, but some cookies are capable of dealing damage that's separate from their element. There are ten types of elements in the game, with the newest being Steel.

Expected rules when it comes to elements such as fire-type cookies being weaker to water-type attacks are not followed. For example, Fire Spirit Cookie can easily counter Sea Fairy Cookie.

There are elemental beascuits, which can significantly increase the damage output of cookies of the relevant element to a greater degree than a non-elemental one. Certain enemies will receive increased or decreased damage depending on the element used against them. This is less of a factor when it comes to fighting other cookies, since it usually only applies to bosses and enemies in tower trays or world exploration, but a few cookies, such as Fire Spirit Cookie, receive less damage if the attacks are the same element as their own.

Where Do Elements Matter in CRK?

It's Useful To Create Element-Based Teams For Certain Gamemodes

Usually, element types are the most useful in certain event battle modes. Boss Rush is of particular note since it has a heavy focus on composing teams of certain elements or types. When a boss or set of enemies is weak to a certain element, there will usually be a small icon displaying the element in question, which you can build a team around. Appointing certain cookies as your team leader can increase certain types of elemental damage.

Cookie Alliance is the main place where you'll find creating teams based on different elements helpful. The gamemode is designed to allow you to swap out teams at your convenience, and enemies in different stages are weaker to specific elements. These battles can be extremely difficult, so you'll need to build some strong element-focused teams in order to reach the higher ranks.

How To Build Elemental Teams

I usually find that team composition doesn't matter too much in Boss Rush, since there's only one enemy, which can be defeated fairly quickly. This is especially true if there's a secret team composition available, as that's usually an almost instant win. However, it really matters in Cookie Alliance, where the enemies you'll go up against are larger in number and surprisingly strong. An ideal team has at least one tank, , and DPS cookie. Some elements are lacking cookies for certain team roles, so you'll need to seek out different cookies to fill the spots in your party.

Although they don't deal poison damage themselves, Candy Apple and Shadow Milk Cookie will boost Black Sapphire's poison damage output if on the battlefield with him. When building teams based on a specific element, you can also use certain treasures to boost different damage types. The Grim-Looking scythe has two variants, one of which is the easiest way to increase the damage output of electricity-type cookies. Although elemental types aren't a huge focus of Cookie Run: Kingdom, element-focused team compositions are slowly becoming more relevant, especially as new types get released.
