Path of Exile’s heist league, Lake of Kalandra introduces new gameplay elements and gives players a fresh start. Players need to get the best equipment possible to conquer the new content, and that includes getting things such as gear with white sockets.
Since players in the League of Kalandra all start as new level one characters, getting gear with white sockets isn’t a major concern early on, it’s more for end-game content. According to many players, Path of Exile really begins when players beat the main 10-act story. It will take around 30-40 hours for newer players to beat the 10 acts, but significantly less time for those familiar with the game. From there, players can take on maps in the Atlas of Worlds, which opens up all new possibilities with randomized maps.
To make their characters in Path of Exile more powerful, players will have to use skill gems, which they slot into sockets in their armor and weapons. Sockets normally come in three varieties of color, red, green, and blue, with items carrying from 1 to 6 sockets. Players will slot in skill gems of the corresponding color. It can be frustrating when players want to use a green skill, for instance, but their item only has red sockets. There are ways to change the colors of sockets, or even add more, but it takes farming materials to do so. Another option is crafting gear with white sockets. Items with white sockets are highly prized because they can slot in skill gems of any color. However, getting white sockets can be a challenge. There are a few different ways to do it.
Getting Gear With White Sockets in Path of Exile
One way to get white socketed gear in Path of Exile is by engaging in fights against the Immortal Syndicate. Players will want to look for Vorici, and when they get the chance, get him assigned to the research safehouse. When players raid the safehouse, the higher rank Vorici is, the better chance players have of getting more white socketed items. It is guaranteed that there will be one white socket at rank 1 and a maximum of 6 sockets when Vorici is at rank 4.
White socket gear can also be obtained through Path of Exile’s temporal incursion mode. What players will do here is place an item of their choice at the Altar of Corruption. The item will become corrupted, which modifies it unpredictably. This means it will randomly roll new stats, and that includes the socket colors. It’s a big gamble, but it can potentially pay off, turning sockets white.
Similar to the altar of corruption, players can use Vaal Orbs to modify their items, potentially changing the socket colors to white. This may not be the most efficient way to get white sockets though, as Vaal Orbs have other uses. However, if players really need a specific item in Path of Exile to have white sockets, they can use their Vaal Orbs.
