During a recent interview with Men's Health, Holland looks back on filming The Crowded Room, recalling that it wasn't a particularly positive on-set environment. Holland doesn't reveal what the disagreements were about or who they involved, but he does confirm that they weren't creative in nature, which is a kind of debate he is more open to. Ultimately, Holland, who has been open about his struggles with alcohol, reveals that he even questioned his sobriety due to the experience. Check out Holland's comments below:

“There was quite a lot of animosity on that set. It was not a very harmonious place, and there was a lot of arguing and butting heads. I thought, If I start drinking again now, with all this going on, it’s gonna get worse, right?”

The Crowded Room cast also featured Amanda Seyfried, Emmy Rossum, Sasha Lane, and Will Chase.

The Actor Has Struggled Outside The MCU

Sometimes, projects can still succeed even if their productions don't go smoothly. Perhaps the most infamous example of this is Apocalypse Now (1979), which, despite a grueling and controversial production, is now widely regarded as one of the best and most important Vietnam War movies ever made. The Crowded Room, however, isn't one of these projects, and it currently has only a 33% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Though Holland's performance is a highlight, The Crowded Room was widely criticized for being a bit of a slog to get through, and its negative reception marks an unfortunate trend for Holland. Uncharted reviews, for example, were generally negative, as were those for Cherry and Chaos Walking (2021). Outside the MCU, then, Holland's only real win with critics as a leading man is The Devil All The Time, but even the response to that movie is somewhat lukewarm overall. Now set to star in Christopher Nolan's next movie, though, Holland could certainly be set to change that.
