A recently released description of the CSI: Vegas season 2 premiere heavily implies that a fan-favorite CSI star might appear on the spinoff. CSI: Vegas had a hard time differentiating itself from the original CSI when the spinoff debuted in 2021. For one thing, both CSI: Vegas and the original CSI were set in Las Vegas. For another, Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle appeared in both shows.
However, CSI: Vegas was intended to be a sequel series to the earlier hit, and the spinoff introduced new characters as well as Sara and Gil. Those new characters will become more important now that Sara and Gil’s actors have opted not to return for season 2, although CSI: Vegas did add CSI veteran Marg Helgenberger’s Catherine Willows to the show’s cast list. Meanwhile, an episode synopsis for the CSI: Vegas season 2 premiere appears to imply that another memorable CSI cast member might also appear on the spinoff.
According to an official synopsis, the CSI: Vegas season 2 premiere will follow a story wherein “the CSIs investigate the murder of a dominatrix found near her secret sex dungeon.” That dominatrix could be anyone, but she will likely be a familiar face for fans of the original CSI series. After all, CSI was notable for having a recurring ing star who was a dominatrix, and the job is specific enough for the callback to seem almost inevitable. CSI’s recurring anti-heroine Lady Heather, who was Gil Grissom’s most notable non-Sara Sidle love interest and one of the first sympathetic depictions of a BDSM sex worker in mainstream US TV, was a pivotal character in numerous acclaimed episodes of the original CSI, so it seems likely that she will be the dominatrix in question.
Will Lady Heather Return In CSI: Vegas Season 2?
It seems almost inevitable that Melinda Clarke’s Lady Heather will return since, even if she isn’t the premiere’s victim of the week, she’s a recurring character from the CSI universe who is not only a sex worker but specifically a Las Vegas-based dominatrix who helped the team with cases before. Not only that but, now that Gil and Sara are no longer a part of the CSI: Vegas cast, season 2 can bring her back without worrying about any awkward interactions between the leading man and his old flame. If anything, the CSI: Vegas season 2 premiere’s failure to bring back Lady Heather would be a massive missed opportunity.
Lady Heather was an on-again, off-again love interest for Gil Grissom throughout the original CSI before he ended up in a relationship with Sara Sidle. Fiercely intelligent and surprisingly caring, Lady Heather was involved in numerous cases both as a suspect (although she was never guilty) and an assistant to the CSI team’s investigations. Given her depiction as a capable, competent, and independent character, it could be sad to see Lady Heather killed off by the CSI: Vegas season 2 premiere, although this would prove that the sequel series was unafraid of shocking long-time franchise fans.
