Cyberpunk 2077's production continues to be delayed. At this point, the blockbuster title has been delayed three times, and its release date has been pushed back several months.

The studio behind Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red, is an industry leader in creating engaging role-playing games. This is the same studio that developed the highly-praised and critically acclaimed Witcher series of video games, so most players are expecting Cyberpunk 2077 to be just as good, if not better, than those previous titles. With everything the company has shown off so far, it looks like this may be possible, but first the game actually has to be completed.

All of the Cyberpunk 2077 delays may have been hard for some players to keep track of. After a few different announcements and claims of "going gold" it can be hard to tell exactly which release date Cyberpunk 2077 is using now. Perhaps even more confusing than that is understanding exactly why the game is being delayed, especially after the company explicitly said Cyberpunk 2077 wouldn't be delayed again. From the very first announcement, CD Projekt Red itted that the game is essentially ready to play, so why exactly, then, does the game keep getting pushed back?

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally slated to be released on April 16, 2020. Then, in January, CD Projekt Red announced the first delay to the game's release, which pushed it back to September 17. Although the game was "complete and playable" according to the creators, it needed a few more months to "make the game perfect." Later, on June 18, it was announced on Twitter that Cyberpunk 2077's release was again being pushed back to November 19 because the massive open-world still had a "huge number of things to iron out." Most recently, on Tuesday, CD Projekt Red confirmed the most recent delay, this time due to the developers working hard to maximize the game's quality on both current and next-generation consoles.

In the most recent statement put out by CD Projekt Red, the video game studio announced Cyberpunk 2077's new release date: December 10th, 2020. This means that the final delay to Cyberpunk 2077 is only a delay of 21 days. Apparently, that's all the time that the creators needed to finish off the game and make it ready to ship.

Video game fans have had to wait for Cyberpunk 2077 a lot longer than they thought they would. If there is one silver lining to all of these setbacks, it is probably this: the longer that CD Projekt Red takes to make the game, the more polished it is going to turn out in the end. All that being said, when this game finally hits the shelves on December 10th, there are a lot of gamers that are going to be very happy to finally have a copy of Cyberpunk 2077.
