According to CD Projekt RED's t-CEO and President, Adam Kiciński, the studio has no plans to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from Xbox's digital storefronts. The question was raised following Sony Interactive Entertainment's recent decision to delist the sci-fi RPG on the PlayStation Store "until further notice."

Within hours of its release last week, Cyberpunk 2077 became the subject of widespread criticism due to its inferior console builds. Base PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems specifically struggled to meet even basic quality standards, culminating in a backlash that forced CDPR to issue a statement about reimbursement opportunities. Unfortunately, mixed messaging and differing policies between Microsoft, Sony, and retailers escalated the confusion. Last night, the chaos took an unprecedented turn, as Sony delisted the product on PS Store and established a refund request system exclusively for Cyberpunk 2077.

At present, CD Projekt RED is not in talks with Microsoft to similarly remove the role-playing title from the Xbox storefront. Adam Kiciński confirmed as much in a statement to Reuters, telling the publication that "we are not in such discussions with Microsoft at the moment." Whether this may change in the coming days, of course, remains to be seen.

Barring speculation, it's unclear as to why Sony took such drastic measures in this particular instance. Perhaps the platform holder received an unprecedented volume of refund requests and concluded Cyberpunk 2077's delisting was the best course of action for the time being? It's hard to say, given that so few details are available to the public. Fortunately, CD Projekt RED aims to resolve the issue soon; reportedly, the first "major fix" will arrive in the form of an update on Monday, December 21.

Questions regarding Cyberpunk 2077's performance quality were first raised in the days leading up to launch when reviews and impressions went live online. Since critics and influencers only received access to the PC version, details about the RPG's console iterations remained tightly under wraps until after its worldwide release digitally and at retail. This led many to posit that CD Projekt RED's marketing, especially with regards to the PS4 and Xbox One SKUs, had been a dubious affair. Review aggregator website OpenCritic even went as far as to accuse the Polish studio of purposefully misleading reviewers and consumers. Regardless of its intentions, CDPR managed to dismantle years of built-up goodwill in a span of one week's time.
