One of the coolest possible locations for Cyberpunk 2077 could have taken new content for the game in a wild new direction, but it is highly unlikely that the final DLC will bring players anywhere near it. Outer space is an important region in the Cyberpunk universe, and introducing space as a playable location could have added a variety of missions, side missions, and game mechanics to a game that hasn't received any expansions since its release in 2020. Sadly, as more information becomes publicly available, it appears less and less likely that space missions will be available in Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077's DLC will signal the end of the game's , and according to its developer, CD Projekt Red, the first and only expansion for the game will take place in a new area of Night City, with very little indication that V will leave Earth in service of the New United States of America. This doesn't, however, dash all hopes of space travel in a Cyberpunk video game, since CDPR recently announced a sequel to 2077, codename Orion, is in development.
The description for the new DLC, titled Phantom Liberty, reveals that the expansion will be "a spy-thriller expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 set in an all-new district of Night City," according to the happier endings for V in Cyberpunk 2077. Recruited by a mysterious stranger promising to save V's life, they travel to outer space to the Crystal Palace, a massive space station orbiting Earth. It's an exciting, open-ended cliffhanger that would be a perfect setup for a DLC expansion - one that, unfortunately, appears destined for another Cyberpunk adventure.
Space-Themed 2077 DLC Would Be Out Of This World
Cyberpunk content appears to be on the rise as of late. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime series set one year before the events of 2077, became an instant success, and was likely a reason that brought droves of players back to the game. While the lack of an Edgerunners DLC is a missed opportunity for 2077, the lack of a DLC expansion set in space seems equally flawed.
A DLC set in space may not be in the future for Cyberpunk 2077, but the game still has big changes on the horizon. CD Projekt Red has consistently improved the game since its widely panned release build, and it is likely that Phantom Liberty will be a vast improvement to an already stellar video game. The new Cyberpunk 2077 DLC will arrive some time in 2023, and will probably contain more exciting, but grounded, adventures in the Cyberpunk world.
