There are not many conventional bosses in Cyberpunk 2077, and there are plenty of late-game enemy encounters that could put most bosses to shame, but the game's toughest boss fights are brutal. 2077 only has a few story bosses, and the ones found early on tend to be fairly easy. The optional cyberpsycho opponents are arguably more akin to mini-bosses, but considering that some of them are among the toughest individual enemies in the game, they are certainly contenders for Cyberpunk's hardest boss fights.

The skills and resistances that bosses possess often make them effective against particular classes and builds. This makes it difficult for any one boss to be the most universally challenging since players can use different Cyberpunk 2077 character builds in each playthrough. Sasquatch, for example, is a melee-heavy tank boss that gun-wielding characters tend to have a much easier time with than melee-centric characters. Royce, on the other hand, is a similar boss that is more vulnerable to electrical weapons and stealth.

A few bosses deserve an honorable mention despite not being some of the absolute hardest. Zion Wylde, a cyberpsycho sniper, is not a particularly difficult boss. However, reaching him can be extremely frustrating, since players must travel across a highway while avoiding getting sniped. Norio Akuhara is a reasonably formidable melee fighter, and the boxers that V fights during "Beat on the Brat" are some of the toughest and most unorthodox fights in the game since the player must fight them unarmed. The street fighters from one of Cyberpunk 2077's best side jobs become substantially easier with a melee-oriented tank-like build but are otherwise quite daunting, and they force the player to become accustomed to dodging quickly.

Chase Coley Deals Too Much Damage

Cyberpsycho Chase Coley in his Militech mech suit from Cyberpunk 2077.

Chase is arguably the toughest cyberpsycho in the game, and is found in the quest "Cyberpsycho Sighting: Discount Doc." His intimidating mech suit gives him resistance to many types of damage and allows him to use some devastating close-range moves. His massive beam rifle can also knock out over half of a player's health depending on their build. Players with electrical weapons will have an edge, and gun-centric characters should go for Chase's head or the weak point on his back. However, Coley's raw damage output ensures that his boss battle is never too easy.

Sandayu Oda Is Incredibly Fast - And Infuriating

One of Cyberpunk 2077's bosses, Oda, with a broken helmet.

This Arasaka cyberninja shows up a few times and is one of the final bosses in the main story. He drops the Jinchu-Maru, likely the best and most stylish katana in Cyberpunk 2077, but he makes the player work for it. This melee-heavy boss is extremely fast, powerful, and difficult to target, so his fight requires a powerful gun (preferably with a large magazine) and tons of Health Stims. He closes distance easily and turns invisible to heal himself, so players do not get much time to reload or use offensive quickhacks (though using Kerenzikov cyberware to slow time is helpful). Although Sandayu's boss fight is long and difficult, it is one of the main story's more creative battles.

Adam Smasher Is A Devastating Final Boss

Adam Smasher's character model in Cyberpunk 2077.

The ruthless mercenary cyborg Adam Smasher might be the toughest bosses in Cyberpunk 2077, which is fitting considering he is the main adversary of the entire story. His boss fight is an abnormally long, multi-stage ordeal where he disables most of the player's cyberware - meaning even Cyberpunk 2077's best cyberdecks will prove largely ineffective. He has plenty of health and a decent variety of strong attacks, and even summons enemies during the fight. Luckily, Adam is vulnerable to chemical damage, and his heart functions as a weak spot. However, knowing Adam Smasher's weaknesses doesn't stop him from being perhaps the hardest boss fight in Cyberpunk 2077, so players should always be over-prepared before the final mission.
