WARNING: Contains Potential Spoilers for DC vs. Vampires: World War V #8!DC has just given the Titans’ Cyborg a bold new look and a major promotion, placing him in charge of his own overpowered team. And while this leadership role unfolds within an Elseworlds storyline, it makes one thing clearer than ever: Victor Stone absolutely deserves a chance to lead the Titans.
...seeing Cyborg thrive in this position makes it clear that his time to lead the Titans is long overdue.
Matthew Rosenberg and Otto Schmidt’s DC vs. Vampires: World War V #8 is officially out and continues to escalate the war between humans, vampires, and Darkseid’s parademon army. In this issue, Roy “Arsenal” Harper lands himself in a serious pickle, finding himself surrounded by parademons with no hope of escape, or even backup on the way.
However, just when it seems the archer is about to become yet another casualty in this never-ending war, Cyborg arrives to save the day, leading his personal army of heroes and reformed villains.
Cyborg Debuts New Beard & Team in DC vs. Vampires
Main Cover by Otto Schmidt for DC vs. Vampires: World War V #8 (2025)
Cyborg leads the charge against Darkseid’s parademons, with a multitude of heroes and reformed villains following him. Among the familiar faces in his personal army are Cyborg Superman, the Metal Men, Red Tornado, Captain Atom, Power Girl, James Gordon's old "Rookie" mech-suit, G.I. Robot, Ladytron, and many more. It’s clear that Cyborg is the leader of this ragtag group, as the others defer to him, with some even referring to him as “sir.” He further demonstrates his leadership by issuing directives and acknowledging his team’s successes. However, this new role isn’t the only notable development for Cyborg.
In addition to his leadership position, Victor is now rocking a decidedly more rugged look, having grown out his hair and sporting a beard. While this style is likely less of a personal fashion choice and more a reflection of the apocalyptic times he’s living in, there’s no denying he pulls it off exceptionally well. The beard and longer hair give him a more mature appearance, one that aligns perfectly with his new role. It’s also just plain fun to see the usually clean-shaven Titan adopting a look that defies his traditional character design.

DC Has a New Cyborg on Hand, And the Titans Will Never Be the Same
Watch out, Victor Stone—the Titans have a new overpowered ‘Cyborg’ on the roster, one who will forever change the team’s power hierarchy.
Real Talk: Cyborg Deserves a Chance to Lead the Titans
Cover B Fabrizio De Tommaso Variant for DC vs. Vampires: World War V #8 (2025)
As previously noted, this leadership role for Cyborg isn’t technically canon, as the series falls under DC’s Elseworlds imprint. However, it still offers readers of the mainstream continuity a glimpse of Victor’s potential. Cyborg’s leadership in this issue feels exceptionally natural, with him stepping into the role effortlessly and without it seeming like Rosenberg is forcing a change in status. It serves as a teaser of what it might look like to see Victor lead the Titans. Typically, Nightwing, Donna Troy, or even Starfire take on the leadership role within the team. However, seeing Cyborg thrive in this position makes it clear that his time to lead the Titans is long overdue.
