WARNING! Spoilers for X-Factor #8X-Men history, but he's shared a romance with another Marvel character that's just as sweet. That is, it would be, if Cyclops hadn't just shot down any chance of it returning. Cyclops and Frenzy's relationship is in a rough spot after their most recent encounter, and it seems that this overlooked X-Men romance is permanently ruined as a result.

In the preview for X-Factor #8 by Mark Russell, Bob Quinn, Jesus Aburtov, and Joe Caramagna, the "X-Manhunt" crossover event continues as an outcasted Charles Xavier reaches out to Frenzy for assistance. However, before Xavier can loop her in on what he's up to, Frenzy gets struck by a kinetic blast and sent flying.

The source of his familiar red beam is none other than Cyclops, who assures Havok that "Frenzy will be all right". Regardless, it's clear that Cyclops has made an enemy of Frenzy with this harsh attack - and their romantic history makes it an especially brutal move on his part.

Cyclops Already Broke Frenzy's Heart, But Now He's Hurt Her Physically

Cyclops' most notable romances are with Basilisk and married Frenzy. However, once they returned to the main universe, Cyclops chose to forget everything that had transpired. Meanwhile, Frenzy held onto her memories - and, therefore, her feelings for Cyclops - so that she would continue down her newfound heroic path.

Much to Frenzy's shock and dismay, although she still recalled her romantic connection with Cyclops, he had no memory of it and brushed her aside for other relationships he could recall. Now, by disposing of her so quickly and carelessly, Cyclops has rubbed salt in the emotional wound he inflicted upon Frenzy when he forgot their love. Any X-Men fans who have held out hope for Cyclops to reciprocate Frenzy's feelings once more will be disappointed to see that he's willing to strike her down at a moment's notice. Frenzy loves Cyclops, but he clearly doesn't feel the same way.

Did X-Men Just Erase Any Chance of This Romance Making a Comeback?

If it was already unlikely that Cyclops and Frenzy would ever rekindle their relationship within the main Marvel Universe, then their latest interaction has made it downright impossible. married to Jean Grey, after all, so it may be for the best that he has no interest in Frenzy. Even if it's officially over, what Cyclops had with Frenzy was undeniably special, since it inspired her to become an X-Men hero and X-Factor.
