Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Cable #3! The strongest X-Men roster just debuted in the pages of Marvel Comics, controlled by a villain who wants to reshape the evolution on Planet Earth for humans and mutants alike - and Cable, alone, is holding his own against them. This roster consists of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Magneto, and Apocalypse, making this perhaps the all-around most powerful ‘X-Men’ lineup in history. However, even they can’t seem to put Cable down for good, which only proves how powerful Cyclops’ son truly is.
In a preview for Cable #3 by Fabian Nicieza, Scot Eaton, and Lan Medina, Black Womb could create her own versions of some of the strongest mutants alive.
Adult Cable was essentially reduced to scrap metal in the previous issue, and is currently working to rebuild himself, leaving Kid Cable to take on these versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Magneto, and Apocalypse all by himself. While that may sound like an immediate death sentence, Kid Cable is actually holding his own against these immensely powerful ‘X-Men’, as the preview ends with Kid Cable shooting round after round into Apocalypse while simultaneously evading attacks from the other copycat mutants.

Cyclops' Son Debuts New Power That's Colossus' Nightmare
Cyclops' son, Cable, just debuted an all-new power against an enemy with abilities similar to Colossus, meaning the X-Men member should be scared.
Cable Reminds Fans of His God-Tier Power (Even When It’s Restrained)
The fight scene in this preview is a perfect example of how extremely powerful Cable really is, and reminds fans of the circumstances/purpose behind the origin of his very existence. Cable was the product of carefully-tracked genetic pairings by Mr. Sinister, who discovered that the combination of Jean Grey (or a clone of Jean, like Madelyne Pryor) and Scott Summers’ DNA would result in a mutant capable of killing the strongest known mutant at that time, Apocalypse.
That’s why Apocalypse infected Cable with the techno-organic virus, both as a restraint on Cable’s powers and as a test to see if he could overcome the virus, at which point Apocalypse would raise Cable as his heir (like he mistakenly did with Stryfe). Now, in this preview, fans see that Cable is more than capable of doing what he was literally born to do: kill Apocalypse. Not only that, but he can fight Apocalypse while also taking on three other immensely powerful mutants all at once - a stark reminder of the true nature of Cable’s god-tier power.
This Isn’t the First Time Cable Has Taken On All the X-Men At Once
Cable & Deadpool #9 by Fabian Nicieza and Patrick Zircher
While Cable is fighting to stop Black Womb from manipulating human and mutant genes to turn everyone into a single ‘perfect species’, that’s strangely exactly what Cable himself was trying to do in the first arc of Cable & Deadpool. Cable was going to sacrifice himself to make everyone the same, hoping to unite the world. However, the way he was going about it (like the Neocracy) was morally questionable and downright horrific, so the X-Men - and Deadpool - fought to stop him.
The team in Cable & Deadpool was ittedly not as powerful as the one Kid Cable fights in this preview, but it still works as an example of Cable flexing the full might of his god-tier strength against the entire X-Men - and effectively kicking their butts. However, no example is better than this latest one, as Cyclops’ son proves his power against the absolute strongest X-Men roster of all time.
Cable #3 by Marvel Comics is available March 27, 2024.
