Unpacking The Daily Show Host Uncertainty
The Daily Show’s bizarre hosting situation resurfaced in the public eye once again following the series’ recent Emmy win for Outstanding Talk Series. At the Emmy ceremony, former Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr. mouthed the words “please hire a host” whilst Noah was delivering his acceptance speech. This message was in reference to Comedy Central’s failure to hire a permanent host for over a year after Noah’s departure.
Following the Emmys, Comedy Central later announced their plans for the next phase of The Daily Show. Instead of choosing a permanent host among the 12 guest hosts that have circulated over the past 13 months, The Daily Show will pivot to being hosted by its correspondents. These current correspondents include Desi Lydic, Michael Kosta, Ronny Chieng, and Jordan Klepper.
