Moving to Disney+ for the first time in show history, season 31 of ABC's hit reality show Dancing With the Stars is slated to air on September 19, 2022, giving 16 competitive hopefuls a chance to win the Mirror Ball trophy. The cast of competitors has recently been unveiled, and it's no real surprise to see the field comprised of some of the most popular reality TV stars, social media influencers, onscreen personalities, and even movie stars will be battling it out on the dance floor.
With roughly a week before the DWTS season 31 debut, some viewers might be wanting to know a bit more about the contestants who are competing for ultimate glory, bragging rights, and the collective prize money.
Charli & Heidi D'Amelio
Reality TV relatives Charli D'Amelio and her mother, Heidi, are set to compete on DTWS 31. The two are known for their 2021 Hulu series, The D'Amelio Show, which chronicles how the relatable teenage Charli and her sister Dixie navigate fame as TikTok influencers and how their parents, Heidi and Marc, deal with their newfound celebrity.
Considering how her dance videos have amassed 146.5 million followers to date, it makes sense that Charli takes her skills to a bigger and brighter stage this fall. While there aren't any clips of Heidi, there's a possibility that she could also be just as great of a dancer.
Joseph Baena
Although fans may have seen him play the minor role of Cory in the 2022 sci-fi film Chariot, Joseph Baena is best known for being the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The fitness model will compete with pro dancer Danielle Karagach when DWTS 31 commences on September 19th.
Whether his fitness training expertise will translate to dazzling dance moves is worth tuning in to see, especially since Baena has the advantage of dancing with Danielle (who won the Mirror Ball trophy in season 30).
Selma Blair
The biggest movie star to compete in DWTS 31, Selma Blair is known for her memorable performances in Cruel Intentions, a young teen who gets caught up in Kathryn's (Sarah Michelle Gellar) vengeful schemes.
While it's been 23 years since she played Cecile, fans may also recognize Blair from her TV role on Anger Management, in which she portrayed Kate Wales for over 50 episodes. Blair will dance with Sasha Farber, who was a finalist on DWTS 26 and 28.
Wayne Brady
One of the most multi-talented TV stars of the past two decades, Wayne Brady will use his improvisational skills from his time on Whose Line is it Anyway? to dance his way to the winner circle, along with pro dancer Whitney Carson on DTWS 31.
If fans don't recognize Brady from the improv sketch-comedy Whose Line, they will certainly recall his hosting stint on Let's Make A Deal from 2009 to 2022, appearing in over 1,600 episodes during that span.
Sam Champion
The ABC weather anchor, Sam Champion, is best known for his time as a news contributor and meteorologist for Good Morning America (a role he's been with since 1998).
With stints as a news anchor and guest host on The View, Sam will look to take the competition by storm when competing along with long-time favorite Cheryl Burke.
Jessie James Decker
Jessie James Decker is a popular country-western singer best known for her music videos and various TV appearances. The "Should Have Known Better" star has appeared as a musical guest and food expert on Today, GMA, and more.
Extremely popular on Instagram as well, Jessie just shared a photo of her and DTWS partner to her 4.1 million followers, captioning the picture with "Let's do this @alanbersten!!! So excited to be part of DTWS 31...ahhh I can't stop smiling." No wonder she can't stop smiling, Alan won the Mirror Ball on Season 28.
Trevor Donovan
Movie and TV actor Trevor Donovan is set to dance with professional Emma Slater on DTWS 31. While some may recall his TV debut on Days of Our Lives, most will know Trevor from his role as Teddy Montgomery in 79 episodes of 90210, a rising tennis star who goes on a journey of self-discovery.
Whether Donovan has dancing experience is anyone's guess, but he's taken to Instagram to face his fears on the show by posing alongside his pro dance partner. Hopefully, he can stay composed when the show begins.
Daniel Durant
Daniel Durant will compete along with pro dancer Britt Stewart when DWTS 31 begins, doing so fresh off the Best Picture win for CODA, the feel-good movie where he gave a tender and touching performance as Leo Rossi.
Durant has also appeared in Switched at Birth and You, but dancing in front of a live studio audience is another beast altogether. Hopefully, he and Britt can defy the odds and dance to the winner's circle.
Teresa Giudice
With over 200 appearances on The Real Housewives of New Jersey from 2009 to 2022, Teresa Giudice has more reality TV experience than many of her DTWS 31 competitors. Teresa is also a bestselling cookbook author and alum of The Celebrity Apprentice.
Whether her vast TV experience pays off when she dances with professional Pasha Pashkov on the show or not, Teresa will feel very comfortable in front of the camera no matter the circumstances.
Vinny Guadagnino
Reality TV star Vinny Guadagnino is set to compete with pro dancer Koko Iwasaki on the long-running competition show, doing so fresh off his experience as the Hammerhead on Jersey Shore and its spinoffs.
Whether starring in mega-popular MTV reality celebrity that knows how to give the audience what they want.
