The Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checcheto era of the Man Without Fear was an excellent time to be a fan of the hero. Not only did their award-winning storylines provide exciting new tales about Matt Murdock and the heroes around him, but it ended with a massive sacrifice that cemented him as one of the most courageous superheroes in Marvel's lineup. Now, this Fall, a new comic series will bring Daredevil back...with a villain that follows him from the fiery pits of Hell itself.

According to Marvel Entertainment, Daredevil #1 by Saladin Ahmed and Aaron Kuder will return Matt Murdock to the worl dof the living, before revealing "the shocking price Matt had to pay to escape the afterlife and the biblical consequences his freedom has unleashed on the world." In this series, Elektra has taken over the title as the Woman Without Fear while "Matt has now embraced a new role in life." However, things are expected to change when a brand-new threat attacks Hell's Kitchen following his reemergence from Hell. Now, "Matt will have to become the devil once more and reckon with the deadliest of sins" in this exciting new series.

New Cover Art Suggests Daredevil's Darkest Story Yet

The announcement also shares amazing cover art from John Romita Jr, Frank Millar, Ejikure, Pepe Larraz and Alex Lozano. Not only do they feature some of the greatest artists giving their interpretation of the Man Without Fear - including a welcome return from Frank Miller - but they also highlight just how dark Matt's journey will be. None of these covers feature him with other heroes in the Marvel universe. It's only him as he is contrasted against the black skyline of Hell's Kitchen. It accentuates just how alone he will likely be in this run due to his fight against this unnamed unholy threat, while also celebrating his return to comics following Zdarsky and Checcheto's phenomenal run.

Fans are in for an exciting new take on the legendary hero according to writer Saladin Ahmed, who states "I only wanted to take this job if I felt like I had a new, unique take on Matt and on Hell's Kitchen." Fans will want to put their pre-orders in as soon as they can to check out this new story as Daredevil faces off against an unholy new threat that could change Hell's Kitchen and Matt himself forever.
