One of X-Men’s last hope. At this year’s Hellfire Gala, Earth’s mutants faced their greatest defeat and have now become hounded and hunted like never before. The situation is dire, but the X-Men have allies, including Captain America who reformed the Unity Squad. In Uncanny Avengers #2, they gain a new friend, one with deep ties to the Man Without Fear.
Uncanny Avengers #2 is written by Gerry Duggan and drawn by Javier Garron. Captain America, after sustaining a grave injury, receives a metal arm. This injury leads the rest of the Squad to believe Cap’s continued presence could be a liability. Cap hears them out but then says he is leaving to open “a new front in the war on Orchis.” Readers learn Captain America has rendezvoused with Daily Bugle reporter Ben Urich. Cap and Urich discuss Captain Krakoa and the implication he might be working with Orchis. Urich tells Captain America that it will take some doing to sway public opinion against Orchis, but Cap is resolute.
Ben Urich Is as Important as Any Super Hero
If anyone can help Captain America find the truth about Orchis and what happened at the Hellfire Gala, it is Ben Urich. An investigative reporter, Urich has been central to a number of key Daredevil stories, including Born Again, which gets a shout-out in this issue. Urich was instrumental in first exposing the Kingpin and has also been an occasional ally to Spider-Man. Regardless of who he is helping, Urich has an unwavering commitment to the truth and has proven himself a worthy ally to Earth’s superhero community. Now, Urich is poised to help the X-Men get their revenge on Orchis.
Ben Urich Has Taken on Some Tough Customers
In his past appearances, Ben Urich has come into the cross-hairs of some of Marvel’s most despicable characters. In one classic story, Urich refused to divulge Daredevil’s secret identity to Kingpin’s goons, who then broke his fingers. Urich also wrote an exposé of Norman Osborn detailing the Green Goblin’s legacy of evil, which nearly cost him his career as well. Urich has suffered but has never wavered in his for Daredevil and the rest of the heroes, and now it is the X-Men’s turn.

Daredevil's Wildest Court Case Was When He Sued Himself
Daredevil manages to balance life as both a vigilante and a lawyer, but those two identities clashed when Matt Murdock took on Daredevil in court.
Urich is right: it will take something huge and bad to turn opinion against Orchis, who he notes has a higher popularity rating than a sitting president. Orchis is a multi-faceted organization, with ties to many other evil groups in the Marvel Universe, such as A.I.M. Yet Urich has gone up against other seemingly undefeatable monoliths and walked away with his life and dignity intact. Urich has been instrumental in bringing down some of Marvel’s biggest villains, and now Orchis is in his sights. The X-Men have gained a powerful friend in Daredevil’s greatest ally.
