Another Marvel Comics character enters the Swordsman's MCU return. Daredevil: Born Again episodes 5 and 6 also introduce a minor Daredevil antagonist from the comics, and future episodes might make him a key player in the series.

In Daredevil: Born Again episode 6, Wilson Fisk's Kingpin persona starts to show through, with Fisk taking out his frustrations on his prisoner, Adam. Towards the end of Daredevil: Born Again episode 6, Mayor Fisk assembles a task force composed of "bad apples" — of the police force with a questionable record who are willing to weed out vigilantism from New York through whatever means necessary. Fisk acknowledges one of these police officers in particular, who seems to be the most skilled among his peers.

Cole North's Marvel Comics History Explained

Cole North Is A Notable Vigilante Hater In The Source Material

In Marvel Comics, New York Police Detective Cole North enters the picture after Daredevil accidentally murders a low-level criminal, which gives Mayor Wilson Fisk the perfect justification to hunt down Daredevil and other New York vigilantes. Cole North shoots Daredevil and incapacitates him in a fistfight, though the Punisher arrives to help Matt Murdock. Unlike most of his fellow of the corps, Cole North has no respect for vigilantes like Daredevil and the Punisher, which gives him a major advantage when fighting them.

Daredevil: Born Again released episodes 5 & 6 on the same night, providing double the amount of exciting Easter eggs, references, and fun nods.

The MCU's version of Cole North seems to share the same background as his comic book counterpart: he's a distinguished former member of the Chicago Police Department who gets transferred to the NYPD, and he's eager to get rid of vigilantes under Mayor Fisk's command. However, Jeremy Earl's Cole North will showcase one major difference. In Daredevil: Born Again's behind-the-scenes footage, North can be seen sporting the Punisher's skull emblem on his vest, meaning that the MCU's Cole North will likely be one of the dirty cops who twists Frank Castle's motivations to impart justice.

In the comics, after Cole North shoots and beats up Daredevil in public, Wilson Fisk assigns North the task of apprehending Spider-Man personally. Of course, Spider-Man proves to be a much more difficult target for North. In the MCU, Daredevil: Born Again's main conflict may extend not only to Daredevil: Born Again season 2, but also to the Spider-Man 4. If Wilson Fisk is still mayor by then, he could order Detective Cole North to take down Spider-Man.
