Marvel hero Daredevil has his share of iconic adversaries, and among the deadliest, by far, is Muse, who is set to appear in the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. As comic book readers know, Muse is an incredibly dangerous adversary, one who possesses a host of unexpected, and even downright bizarre superpowers.

Muse is a strange character, in part because, while it is clear that he has powers, they have remained largely undefined during his comic book history. Introduced in 2015's Daredevil #11 – written by Charles Soule, with art by Ron Garney – Muse's debut found him taking Daredevil completely by surprise with his astonishing strength, and his incredible speed.

Over time, though, it has become evident that Muse has other abilities, which have helped make him a fan-favorite villain, and a natural addition to the cast of Born Again.

Muse Draws All Sensory Information Into Himself

Daredevil's only power is his radar sense. Without his radar sense, Daredevil's effectiveness drops dramatically. He isn't helpless, but he's nowhere near as capable. Due to the fact that Matt Murdock is blind, he has to rely on his radar to ping things around him, letting him see their outlines and "seeing" where people are. Villains have managed to disrupt this in the past by using rain or loud noises, but Muse is different; Muse has the power to suck all sensory information into him, like a black hole that makes him nearly invisible to Daredevil.

I Didn't Think Muse Could Get Any Scarier But Daredevil Is Proving Me Wrong

Daredevils avant garde foe Muse was already a frightening villain, but a demonic upgrade has just made the villain even more terrifying.

On top of this, Muse has frightening strength. Using just his bare hands, he is capable of ripping people apart. Literally tearing them limb from limb. With his enhanced strength, he was capable of lifting Blindspot, a fully grown young man, up into the air with one hand, then stabbing through his eyes with the fingers of his other hand. He's fast enough to kill six armed individuals in under a second as well. He also doesn't seem to feel pain, since at one point he happily broke his own fingers to try and appease Daredevil, who was enraged at the time.

Muse's Power Set Has Continued To Grow More Frightening, And More Powerful, Since His Introduction

Muse also showcased his incredible physical strength and speed, by catching Daredevil's baton and breaking it in half. During his final battle with Blindspot, Muse was completely overpowered by the powers of the Beast that Blindspot was using. With his plans foiled, and with no hope of defeating Blindspot, Muse simply walked into a burning building and ended his own life. This is another example of the fact that his powers seem to render him immune to pain. After dying, Muse was sent straight to hell, but even then, he seemingly demonstrated a new ability from the depths of Hell.

Does the action in the Daredevil: Born Again trailer look on par with the Netflix series?

The first Daredevil: Born Again trailer takes its time to show Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock as his vigilante persona. However, when that does happen, it becomes a non-stop thrill ride. Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio had previously teased how the show was more violent and dark than the Netflix series in some ways. While it is still too early to judge, I think that could turn out to be accurate. Daredevil fights ferociously in the trailer, breaking bones and making others bleed with no remorse. I'm excited to see how violent the series can be.

It is currently unclear in Daredevil lore whether this is a quirk of Hell or an ability of Muse, but he seems to be able to send his soul out of Hell and back to Earth, while his body remains down below. This was demonstrated when Muse found the young artist named Morgan and was able to push her into murdering her art teacher. Whether he literally possessed her, or was simply able to influence her is also currently unknown. Either way, it seems that Muse is a lot more powerful than he first appeared.

All of that said, it is clear that Muse is physically powerful – but there also seems to be a metaphysical dimension to his abilities as well, as suggested by Unleash Hell #1. While the antagonist's appearances over the years have given readers a good sense of his eclectic power set, the source of his powers, and the origins of the character himself, are a predominant mystery in Daredevil lore that Marvel has yet to answer. Whether Daredevil: Born Again will delve into these questions is unknown, as is how exactly his powers will be depicted.

Daredevil Fans Are On The Edge Of Their Seats Waiting To Find Out How Muse Translates To The Screen

Adapting The Villain Wil Be Difficult, But Exciting

Muse's powers make him an incredibly dangerous adversary and this was proven by the fact that Daredevil never actually defeated him. Daredevil fought Muse several times, and he lost every time. The first time they fought, Muse was able to easily escape after using a flash-bang to disrupt Daredevil's senses. The second time they fought, Muse was able to overpower Daredevil and nearly escaped after putting some hostages in danger. Muse was eventually defeated by Blindspot, but never by Daredevil. This makes his first live-action appearance especially interesting, as fans are eager to know if Daredevil can finally manage to defeat him.

It is unclear if Daredevil: Born Again will showcase all of Muse's powers, as he's seen being rather easily thrown around by Daredevil, but he doesn't seem to mind the pain at all

This difference might seem minor, but it emphasizes how truly dangerous Muse is. Daredevil couldn't bring him down; only Blindspot, while empowered by an ancient demon, had the strength to do it. It is unclear if Daredevil: Born Again will showcase all of Muse's powers, as he's seen being rather easily thrown around by Daredevil, but he doesn't seem to mind the pain at all, which is alarming. Fans will simply need to tune in to this new show and see if Blindspot lives up to his comic reputation, and if Daredevil can finally get a win over this villain.
