Warning: This article contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again.
A new theory suggests that Marvel Studios might twist one character's storyline in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, but Kingpin might not be the only villain Daredevil battles.
Daredevil: Born Again season 1 built up Mayor Wilson Fisk's control over New York City gradually, while Matt Murdock spent most of the series retired as the Man Without Fear. Nevertheless, Murdock did take on a number of minor villains, including Bullseye, Devlin and Luca's gang, corrupt NYPD officers Powell and Cole North, and even District Attorney Benjamin Hochberg in a legal battle. However, it was Bastian Cooper's Muse who presented Daredevil: Born Again season 1's most terrifying threat, and there are hopes the villain will return despite his apparent death.
Daredevil: Born Again Killed Off Muse Far Too Soon
Muse Was One Of The MCU's Most Exciting New Villains
Out of all Daredevil's villains in Marvel Comics, it was perhaps most surprising that Marvel Studios elected to include Muse in live-action. This was made possible thanks to Daredevil: Born Again's TV-MA rating, as Muse is a sadistic and brutal serial killer in Marvel Comics who uses his victims' bodies, organs and blood to make graffiti and art installations. It was unclear how exactly this would translate into the MCU, but Marvel pulled it off perfectly, as Born Again's Muse drained his victims of their blood and used this to make epoxy-like paint that was incredibly difficult to remove.

The MCU's Latest & Biggest Marvel Changes Created A New Villain Complaint, But I'm Convinced The Franchise Already Has A Way To Fix This
Daredevil: Born Again introduced one of the MCU's most terrifying villains, and while he's already been killed off, I would love to see him return.
While Muse's identity in Marvel Comics remains a mystery, Marvel Studios explained that Born Again's Muse was Bastian Cooper, played by Wednesday star Hunter Doohan. Revealing too much about Muse made the villain significantly less scary, and the final nail in the coffin came when Muse was killed by Margarita Levieva's Heather Glenn, his latest prospective victim and Matt Murdock's new love interest, during a spar with Daredevil. Muse could have been a long-running and ever-present threat to the MCU's street-level heroes, but he was killed off much too soon in Daredevil: Born Again.
Heather Glenn Becomes Muse In Daredevil: Born Again Season 2: MCU Theory Explained
Heather Glenn's Villainous Future Has Been Teased In The MCU
While Bastian Cooper's Muse might have been killed off in Daredevil: Born Again season 1, there are still hopes that the villain will return in season 2 to continue his horrific artwork. Some theories have suggested that Cooper could have been a Muse copycat, or that someone else could don the canvas mask to succeed him, though a new theory shared by Reddit mushahidq posits that Heather Glenn herself could become the MCU's new Muse. This would be a dramatic and unexpected twist for Glenn, but could actually make perfect sense for the new character.
Heather Glenn was introduced to Daredevil: Born Again as a notable therapist and author working in New York City who is set up on a date with Matt Murdock by his new legal partner, Kirsten McDuffie. Glenn soon becomes much more central in Born Again's story, however, as she not only becomes Wilson and Vanessa Fisk's couples' counselor, but also the therapist of Bastian Cooper, who forms an unhealthy obsession with her. Heather Glenn's pre-existing connection to Muse means it's not too far-fetched to imagine her assuming his role, especially after Daredevil: Born Again season 1's finale.
Kingpin Could Easily Manipulate Heather Glenn Into Becoming Muse In Daredevil: Born Again
Wilson Fisk Has Manipulated Vulnerable Villains Before
At the end of Daredevil: Born Again season 1, Mayor Wilson Fisk recruited Dr. Heather Glenn as his office's Commissioner of Mental Health, meaning the pair may be working closely together in season 2. Showrunner Dario Scardapane has confirmed that Glenn and Murdock's romantic relationship is over, perhaps kick-starting her own descent into darkness. After her experiences with Muse and Matt Murdock, Heather Glenn has already started to unravel, and her obsession with masked vigilantes has only increased, so she could become a target of the Kingpin's machinations.
It's not hard to imagine Wilson Fisk turning his attention to Heather Glenn in a similar way to the way he manipulated Wilson Bethel's Benjamin Poindexter in 2018's Daredevil season 3. Kingpin influenced events to transform the psychopathic, sharp-shooting FBI agent Poindexter into the unhinged villain Bullseye, and he could easily do the same to Heather Glenn, perhaps marking her evolution into the MCU's new Muse. Deg and deploying his own villain could allow Fisk to gain even more power and influence, and Heather Glenn is already on the edge.
Heather Glenn Becoming Muse Would Create New Conflict For Matt Murdock’s Daredevil
Matt Murdock & Heather Glenn Aren't Dating After Born Again Season 1
Despite Muse's death in Daredevil: Born Again season 1, episode 7, "Art for Art's Sake," the villain has still been teased to return in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. Marvel has set up an adaptation of the comics' Devil's Reign storyline, in which Muse plays a key role as an adversary to both Daredevil and Kingpin, so it would be fantastic to see the twisted artist come back as Devil's Reign expands in season 2. This would not only best fit the new MCU narrative, but it would be huge for Matt Murdock's own story as Daredevil.

Imagine the personal conflict that would be created if Matt Murdock's Daredevil came face-to-face with Muse once again, only for the villain to be revealed as Murdock's former lover and acclaimed therapist, Heather Glenn. In Marvel Comics, Heather Glenn became a minor villain as the chairperson of Glenn Industries, but Marvel Studios could make her an even more prominent threat by having her follow in Bastian Cooper's footsteps. It would be brilliant to see Muse return in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, especially with this new identity and under the control of Mayor Wilson Fisk's formidable Kingpin.
