Director Marc Jobst shares a memory from working on Netflix's Daredevil that explains how Charlie Cox is able to embody the physicality of Daredevil so well. Daredevil first premiered on Netflix in 2015 and ran for three seasons. The series kicked off Netflix's Defender franchise. Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio have reprised their roles in the MCU in She-Hulk and Hawkeye, respectively, but will return in full force with the highly anticipated Daredevil: Born Again.

Screen Rant recently spoke with Jobst about his work on the Netflix One Piece adaptation. He also discussed his time working on Daredevil, specifically with Cox. Jobst broke down one of the early season 3 scenes and shared how Cox was able to seemingly effortlessly do the physically taxing recovery workouts in the third season's premiere. Check out Jobst's full quote below:

Marc Jobst: Charlie is an unbelievable physical athlete. We were shooting the scene, I think it was the first episode of season three, and he'd been in some terrible situation, the building had collapsed on him, and he'd escaped through it, and he was recovering in the chapel of this church. In part of that recovery process, he was doing a series of exercises to bring himself back to himself, and we were doing these sort of things, and he was like, "Ah, this is what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna do a handstand, and I'm going to do press ups on a handstand." I don't know if you've ever tried that, Grant, but for the likes of you and me, it's just not wise, unless you've really done some training. [Laughs] He just got up and he just did it, it was like, "What? Wow!"

How Cox's Daredevil Fits Into The MCU's Future

Marvel has already shown how Daredevil and Kingpin can fit into the larger tapestry of the MCU. Hawkeye sets up Kingpin as a major player in the New York criminal underworld, with Clint Barton himself weary of taking him on. She-Hulk reintroduced Matt Murdock as a skilled attorney and vigilante. Marvel has laid the groundwork for New York to be the street-level crime corner of the MCU, which is the perfect fit for both Kingpin and Daredevil.

This could mean that other characters like Echo, Kate Bishop, or even Peter Parker can make appearances, further intertwining their stories. Daredevil has also proven to be a character that works well in crossovers, both in the Netflix era and now in the MCU. Matt Murdock could become an important player in the superhero world, already putting his legal prowess to good use for both Peter Parker and super suit creator Luke Jacobson.

Daredevil could also be the beginning of bringing back some of the more popular characters from the Netflix era Defenders, like Jessica Jones. The MCU has proven that Daredevil has an impressive ability to jump into different genres. Daredevil: Born Again is expected to be a bit darker, reminiscent of Netflix's Daredevil, while his appearance in She-Hulk leaned into the comedic aspects of his character. While the long-term plans remain a mystery, Daredevil will likely play a major role in the MCU going forward, especially with the connections already established with other prominent MCU characters.
