Set in a grim future, DAREDEVIL: COLD DAY IN HELL introduces a grizzled, older, and virtually powerless Matt Murdock. No longer operating as a superhero, Matt still finds ways to help others in a world more unjust than ever, but when a catastrophe miraculously restores his enhanced senses, he’s able to take the fight to where it matters most as Daredevil. |

I'm Convinced the Wildest Marvel Plot Twist in History Belongs to Daredevil
Of all the shocking endings in Marvel Comics’ history, one Daredevil story ends with a twist that puts a dark spin on a crucial part of his lore.
Daredevil's New Costume Shows He's Nearing Destruction
Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell Unleashes a Matt Murdock With Nothing Left to Lose
For the first time, McNiven's covers reveal Daredevil's costume for this arc - a torn, patchwork costume that clearly isn't long for this world. The same is likely true for the aging Matt Murdock, who - thanks to the return of his powers - has one last chance to exact justice in a world where the heroes lost. Which enemy Daredevil will face - and which of his allies are still around - is a mystery, but with a preview of the comic showing Matt in a graveyard, it's possible that the Man Without Fear will return to heroism without his old friend Foggy Nelson and assassin ally Elektra.
In an interview with IGN, writer Soule states that he and McNiven worked incredibly closely on the project, comparing it to "jazz," while McNiven states:
This is definitely a story that fits in with all of the other things Charles and I have collaborated on over the years, and is probably the most ambitious. A unique type of work that could only happen after years of working together and trusting each other’s abilities.
As a character, Daredevil is often defined as an underdog fighting against impossible odds - it's no coincidence that his main enemies are New York crime lord the Kingpin and the seemingly endless ninja death cult known as the Hand. Now, that concept will be taken to the extreme, as an aging Daredevil suits up one more time to take on injustice.
Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell #1 is coming April 2, 2025, from Marvel Comics with issue 2 and 3 following in May and June respectively.
