In Daredevil #21 by Saladin Ahmed, José Luis Soares and Carlos Nieto, Matt fights back against the infection to get the missing civilians to safety. However, after speaking with the police, Daredevil determines they're hiding information about the fungal infection and ventures out to get answers.

Matt opens up his senses to seek out information from the city like usual, but thanks to the fungal infection, Daredevil can tap into the 'mycorrhizal network', a subterranean network used by fungal particles to share information. Daredevil uses his advanced hearing to track the network all the way to the Upper East Side.

His Powers Plus Fungus Gives Him Access to the Mycorrhizal Network

Daredevil just got through one of the most trying events of his life, taking on the Seven Deadly Sins. After a harrowing confrontation that ended with the death of Bullseye, Daredevil moved on with his life, rekindling his relationship with his old flame, Nyla Skin. However, the romance led Matt to discover that people in Nyla’s building were going missing. Daredevil started investigating Nyla’s building and discovered a fungus had begun growing in his body. Before Matt even knew what had happened, he ed out, only to wake up in a basement with the rest of the missing residents.

Daredevil’s powers are already really impressive, as the chemicals that blinded him greatly enhanced his other senses (which have been honed through years of training). But Matt’s powers only go so far. Now that he’s connected to an underground network, he can literally take in information from below, giving him an entirely new way of navigating the Earth. Granted, it’s most useful in this situation, when he’s trying to find the source of the infection. Despite the danger the fungus presents to Daredevil, his powers are getting the boost they need to put an end to the infestation.

Will it Be Worth the Risk to Matt Murdock's Health?

Daredevil’s greatest asset (and flaw) is that he’s willing to endanger himself to help others. Should Matt be getting medical treatment for the infection in his body? Absolutely. But he recognizes that being able to track the mycorrhizal network is too great an advantage to not use. Someone needs to track down the source of the fungus and Daredevil is the only person capable of doing so with his powers. It wouldn’t be the first time risking his life and as long as Daredevil’s powers are enhanced by the infection, he’s damn well going to put it to use.
