Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Daredevil #7In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Punisher, their new High Slayer. Having revived the ancient rival order known as The Fist, Daredevil and Elektra are the King and Queen of their new army largely compromised of super criminals they recently broke out of prison. However, the Punisher has forced Daredevil's hand in this new issue, and their supernatural war is about to begin in earnest.

In the new Daredevil #7 from Chip Zdarsky, Rafael de Latorre, and Marco Checchetto, Daredevil allows the mercenary known as Bullet to leave his island compound while offering a home should he ever need one. However, Bullet and his son were both taken by the Hand and used as bait, daring Daredevil and his forces to meet the Punisher in battle. Despite wanting more time to train and help his followers on their respective paths toward redemption, Daredevil and Elektra have no choice but to go to war with Frank Castle.

Dardevil's Army vs Punisher and The Hand

While Daredevil has been preparing the Fist for war, it's clear that he didn't expect conflict to come so soon. However, that's not to say that he's not ready. Thanks to following the rituals of the Fist, Daredevil's strength and senses have all been supernaturally amplified as well as those of his followers. The same is true for the Punisher as well, having been chosen by the Beast as its favored servant. While Frank has some serious issues with the Hand, he does believe that he can ultimately use his ninjas as a force for good to rid the world of all criminals. It should also be noted that the Hand has resurrected his wife in exchange for his service as well.

Daredevil and Punisher couldn't be more opposed in the current Marvel Universe. Disillusioned by the traditional systems of justice, Daredevil now wants to redeem criminals in his belief that they can change when given the chance. In contrast, the Punisher sees all criminals as irredeemable scum to be exterminated. Likewise, they both have more power and resources than they've ever had before. After all, it's not every day Matt Murdock and Frank Castle have entire armies at their backs.

While the battle to come will likely be the first of many, it will mark the first time the First and Hand have clashed in the modern Marvel Universe. With a child's life hanging in the balance, here's hoping Daredevil and his forces have what it takes to repel Punisher and his ninja clan in the issues to come. Daredevil #7 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
