Warning: Spoilers for Daredevil #6!Before he lunges into a brutal encounter with a corrupted Wolverine, Daredevil must first assume and terrible) he can be.
The two are ready to square off once again, as teased by Wolverine's appearance at the end of Daredevil #6 by Saladin Ahmed, Aaron Kuder, Jesus Aburtov, and VC's Clayton Cowles. Both men have changed drastically since their last encounter.
For Wolverine, his body has become the plaything for a demon looking to bring Matt Murdock to Hell. As for Daredevil himself, he's once again become the Hand of God, complete with an all-white costume covered in flames. He last assumed this form in a previous life as he descended into Hell, but he must take on this appearance in a move necessary to retaliate against the worst that Wolverine can offer.
Daredevil Becomes the Hand of God Again
At the end of Chip Zdarsky's previous Daredevil run, the title character waltzes into Hell wearing an all-white suit in order to save his friends from The Beast. The suit was meant to represent Daredevil at his most confident in God's plan for him and his most absolved from all the sins he believed he was condemned to suffer for. After years of beating himself up over his actions as a superhero, Daredevil became fully trusting in God as one of his soldiers.
Traits like guilt have naturally followed Matt's mindset wherever he's gone, and have continued to plague him since he's returned to the living world. However, a pep talk from Father Javi at the start of this issue and a chance encounter with "The Man Who Fears," serve as a wake-up call, changing Daredevil's life for good. This empowers him to manifest the Hand of God outfit into the land of the living, allowing him to dish out punishment to criminals with no remorse. Finally trusting fully in his brand of justice, he torches through the Heat gang with the wrath of God.
Daredevil & Wolverine's Brands of Justice Are at the Center of Their Rematch
As Daredevil continues to be stalked by the Seven Deadly Sins, the fact that Wrath is controlling Wolverine now is too ironic not to acknowledge. During their last encounter, the two fight over their individual brands of justice. Daredevil urges Wolverine not to kill Bushwacker, while Wolverine argues, "He wants my brand of justice - not yours!" Wolverine may not be in control of his body, but both are literally letting wrath control their actions. Daredevil may need to consider unapologetically unleashing his own wrath as the Hand of God in order to stop this obstacle.
Daredevil #6 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
