The next several months may be the Summer of Superman, but not everything is all bright and shiny for the Man of Steel. This July, things are going to be heating up for Clark Kent and the entire universe as Superman #28 kicks off a brand-new storyline sure to have a dramatic impact on the DCU.

After months of teasing, this issue sees the return of the Darkseid Legion and their gunning for Superman. Superman #28 will finally reveal the sinister mission this Legion is on as the story lays the groundwork for the next phase of DC All In.

DC All In's Biggest Moment is Finally Paying Off

The era of DC All In began with DC All In Special #1, which saw the recently reunited Justice League attacked by Darkseid. His physical body was destroyed, but his energy broke through the multiverse and settled on Earth-Alpha. Darkseid's energy shaped the world so that challenge and adversity were its guiding principles instead of hope. Booster Gold was the only hero who attempted to see what became of Darkseid and ventured out to the mysterious new world, where he discovered that Darkseid has conquered the Earth, ruling over it with a corrupted Legion of Super-Heroes as his personal army.

Despite the shocking nature of DC All In Special #1's cliffhanger ending, fans have seen very little of Darkseid and his Legion throughout the last few months. But they finally reappeared in Superman #23 and as recently as Summer of Superman Special #1. Their objective still isn't clear yet, but they appear to be gathering information on the Man of Steel and monitoring any disturbances to the Prime Universe's timeline on Darkseid's behalf. But Superman #28 will see Darkseid's army move from surveillance to a more active role, and that’s going to have huge implications on the DC Universe.

Superman is About to Discover Some Major Changes to the DC Universe

While Superman and his allies have been aware of a few aberrations in the wake of Darkseid's death, they don't know half of what's happened. The Darkseid Legion is going to be a serious wake-up call for Superman and make it painfully obvious that not only is Darkseid not dead, he's coming back stronger than ever. This conflict is going to open Superman's eyes up to a lot of things, possibly even making him aware of the Absolute Universe and its heroes. Whatever happens, things are certainly going to change when Darkseid’s Legion comes to take on Superman.
