Warning! Spoilers ahead for Dark Crisis #1!

In DC's next crossover event, Darkseid teams up with some of the strongest villains in comic book history. Coming this summer, Dark Crisis is set to be the next big crisis that DC's heroes will face. The series is a monthly event written by Joshua Williamson with art by Daniel Sampere and colors by Alejandro Sánchez.

Everything that has happened since Infinite Frontier #0 has led to Dark Crisis, as the series promises to connect all the lingering threads across the DCU. Infinite Frontier began with the return of Darkseid in his ultimate form and only recently did Darkseid's true intentions come to surface. In Justice League Incarnate, the Great Darkness finally escaped from his multiversal prison, thanks to Darkseid doing his bidding.

According to Dark Crisis #1 below:

Dark Army Darkseid
Dark Army Darkseid 2

Lingering in the top left corner of the issue's cover art is the Dark Army. Comprised of eight , excluding Pariah and the looming Great Darkness, Deathstroke is front and center. Although one of the most notable villains, Deathstroke stands out as the least powerful villain but obviously has something to offer to the team considering his prominence. ing Slade is Darkseid, the former ruler of Apokolips and villain of Infinite Frontier. Ares, Nekron, Neron, the Empty Hand, Doomsday, and Eclipso round out the featured villains. One addition that is not featured on the cover of Dark Crisis #1 is the Upside-Down Man, a magical villain from the Dark Multiverse, who features on another Dark Army image released by DC Comics. It can be presumed that they have less of an impact on the DCU, considering their exclusion.

Alone, these villains have conducted some of DC's biggest crisis events, so imagine the damage that they will cause together. But this time they are being led by Pariah, who wields the Great Darkness, with the intention of destroying Earth-0. Each villain has their own reasons for being apart of Darkseid's Dark Army, but Pariah, who is not traditionally a villain, believes he can restore his long-dead Earth if he destroys the DCU's primary world. Dark Crisis #1 will be available in June.
