  • Daryl's desire to go back to America may be delayed by Season 3's new setting in Spain, adding to the suspense.
  • Daryl's return to the U.S. is essential for the overall Walking Dead storyline, setting up potential crossovers and resolutions.

Although Daryl Dixon season 2, aka The Book of Carol, also seems to imply that Daryl's time in won't last forever.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon stood out from other The Walking Dead spinoffs for a few reasons, but one of the biggest was its setting. While Dead City took Negan and Maggie to New York and The Ones Who Live ventured to the Civic Republic in Pennsylvania, Daryl Dixon traveled all the way to . Though this move was risky, it ended up being a great success. The show's new setting was refreshing after so many seasons in Alexandria. However, Daryl Dixon's European setting always seemed like a temporary fix, as Daryl still has unfinished business back at home.

Daryl Dixon Season 2 Sets Up Daryl's Return Home

Daryl Wants To Go Back To America

The trailer for Daryl Dixon season 2 finally confirms that Daryl is headed back to America - eventually. In the trailer, Daryl talks with Isabelle about how he feels like he doesn't really belong in . While he has done important things there, it isn't where he needs to be. Isabelle mentions that perhaps is simply a good change of scenery for him. A place for him to be just for now. This seems to be the tactic that Daryl will take throughout the season, as the rest of the trailer shows Daryl continuing his fight against Genet in .

Whether he brings his new French companions or not, it seems that once Daryl finishes his business in , he will try to find a way to get back home

However, there is another bigger clue about Daryl's intention to leave . In a quick snippet, Daryl tells Laurent that he is considering taking him and Isabelle back to America with him. The trailer does not show Laurent's reaction, but this conversation alone insinuates that returning to America is very much on Daryl's mind. Whether he brings his new French companions or not, it seems that once Daryl finishes his business in , he will try to find a way to get back home. Of course, this could change once Daryl reunites with Carol in .

Daryl Dixon Season 3 Has A Brand New Setting

Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) defending himself with a pair of knives in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2 Trailer

Despite what Daryl Dixon season 2's trailer hints, Daryl won't be returning to the U.S. as soon as he thinks. The trailer released at San Diego Comic-Con focused on season 2, but it was also announced that Daryl Dixon had been renewed for season 3. Even better, the new Daryl Dixon season will take place in Spain. In this way, Daryl may have America on his mind, but the series has other plans for him. This could have to do with Carol's arrival or another unknown factor. Either way, Daryl is headed down south in Daryl Dixon season 3.

This news begs the question: why is Daryl concerned about returning to America when the show is moving him to Spain? If the showrunners want him in Spain, then it seems pointless to have Daryl dreaming of America. They are just putting his desires off more and more. However, Daryl's yearning for home may be less about the actual country and more about those who reside there. It seems likely that if Carol and Daryl reunite as the trailer implies, then Daryl's hopes of returning can be put off for a while.

It was also revealed that The Walking Dead: Dead City will continue to take place in New York, though its filming location will change to Boston.

Why Daryl Dixon Must Return To The USA Eventually

Daryl Belongs In America

Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) holding a crossbow in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2 Trailer

Daryl Dixon's European setting is exciting and fun, but it still seems important that Daryl returns to America one day. A big aspect of the show is that Daryl arrives in with big ideas that help the French fight back against Genet. He brings something that the French don't have. However, that fact works the other way around as well. Once the fighting ends, Daryl will continue to stick out from the French. He is right that he doesn't quite belong there. Therefore, it is vital that he returns home where he truly belongs.

Furthermore, from a franchise perspective, Daryl is still an integral character to the overall Walking Dead story. With so many other Walking Dead spinoffs, his return would allow for essential storylines to be resolved between Daryl and Rick, Connie, and other The Walking Dead characters. Plus, the potential for crossovers would be particularly intriguing. In this way, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon can enjoy its European vacation, but Daryl's return to the U.S. is a must.
