The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon introduces new characters in its premiere, including the villains audiences will learn more about beyond episode 1. Daryl Dixon has drawn the attention of many new faces in his spinoff, some being friendly nuns who see him as a savior and others holding dangerous intentions that threaten the beloved protagonist. Daryl has officially started his mission in after agreeing to deliver Laurent, and there are bound to be obstacles that block his path. Those obstacles won't always be zombie variants. People have always been the biggest threat in The Walking Dead, and Daryl's spinoff could further prove this.

New villains in Daryl Dixon aren't much of a surprise after the trailers, episode stills, and casting. However, the previews for The Walking Dead spinoff don't give much away about their intentions and purpose in the six-part show. Now that Daryl Dixon episode 1, "L'âme Perdue," is finally out, audiences know a little more about the villains and why they could threaten Daryl's journey in .

Daryl Dixon's Villains Are Known As "Guerriers"

Codron, the main villain in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

The new group of villains in Daryl Dixon's spinoff are called the Guerriers, which translates to "Warriors." These characters are first introduced when Daryl meets Maribelle and Guillaume, ordinary people who seem friendly at first. However, they soon turn against Daryl in order to steal his supplies. Thankfully, they're interrupted when two soldiers approach them and threaten Maribelle. The conversation they have is unclear due to Daryl not understanding French. Daryl fights back, and they manage to bring the soldiers down, completely unaware of the potential consequences, which have now become very real to the spinoff's hardened survivor.

Later in the Daryl Dixon premiere, Maribelle and Guillaume encounter other men from the same militant group and are forced to speak about what happened. They eventually blame the "American" — Daryl — for the killings. This is a huge moment, as audiences realize that one of the dead men is actually the brother of the group's leader, Codron. Now that the consequences are coming to light, it's clear that these villains have a new motive: to hunt Daryl down and kill him. From the get-go, Codron appears to have the most superiority out of his colleagues, making him a powerful force in Daryl's spinoff.

What We Know About Genet, Daryl Dixon's Main Spinoff Villain

Madame Genet as the villain in The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon

Madame Genet is another new villain, and she seems to hold the most power out of anyone currently The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. She is the leader of the Cause, a political group that was last seen on a tanker ship discussing zombie test subjects. Audiences don't learn much about her in the first episode, except that she holds similar traits to Elizabeth Kublek, lieutenant colonel of the Civic Republic Military (CRM). Both organizations seem to have evil intentions that aren't totally clear to begin with, so it will be interesting to watch Genet's plans unfold as Daryl finally meets her and discovers the truth about the Cause's dodgy experiments.

Genet has a stone-cold personality judging by the way she speaks and talks down to her men, which could prove dangerous as she gets closer to finding Daryl. What audiences do know is that Genet has lost the majority of her research on the ship, whether that's to do with creating zombie variants or even learning more about their behavior. As another consequence Daryl must face, there's no doubt that Genet will slowly reveal her dark nature in episodes.

Codron's Guerriers Are A Powerful Group In The Walking Dead

Codron as part of the Guerriers in The Walking Dead

The Guerriers are clearly not to be messed with, and judging by their collaboration with the Cause, they could hold some serious weapons and firepower. Although Codron is now on his own after the nuns and Daryl killed the remaining soldiers for threatening Laurent, he can still request more soldiers from the Cause in order to fulfill his mission to kill Daryl. The leader the Guerriers is incredibly angry over the loss of his zombified brother and his fellow soldiers. It seems that no matter what, anger is always the biggest threat in an apocalypse, as it drives people to do terrible things to get what they want.

In addition to basic weaponry, the Guerriers have functioning trucks and access to the of the Cause. With from a bigger organization, they could easily destroy other communities on their way to finding Daryl in . Episode 1 doesn't give too much away about the Guerriers and their backstory, but their simple motivation is enough to make them one of the most powerful groups in The Walking Dead. Their introduction leaves viewers to wonder how they'll contribute to the scale of Daryl's Walking Dead spinoff journey.

What Genet Actually Wants In Daryl Dixon's Spinoff

Madame Genet in The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon

Genet seems to be invested in zombie experimentation, much like The Walking Dead: World Beyond's CRM Project V. Her intentions right now are unclear. Her mission could be engineering variant zombies to weaponize them or to develop a possible cure using the test subjects aboard the ship. Since Daryl destroyed that research for an unknown reason, she could be on a new path to locating him and bringing him down, which is why she's working with Guerriers. Regardless of her purpose in Daryl's spinoff, she already seems like a dangerous character, and she could cause more catastrophes for the rugged survivor and his new companions, Laurent, Isabelle, and Sylvie.

Another plausible theory is that Genet has ties to the CRM, which explains the post-credit scene in World Beyond and why it was set in . The Walking Dead wouldn't include this scene unless it was important. Instead of the Cause reversing the accidental creation of the virus, they could be enhancing it to make something much worse. A short preview of the rest of Daryl's spinoff reveals Genet saying that they'll make their "enemies pay." This suggests she is taking her leadership to new heights by exacting revenge, whether that's by eliminating Daryl or another unseen threat.

Audiences will have to wait for more The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon episodes in order to fully understand the new villains and their sinister motives when it comes to zombie variants. However, from what the series has shown so far, none of these newcomers bode well for the titular hero or his companions.
