The unassuming, be-goggled, wetsuit-wearing Dave the Diver will splash into Revenge of the Savage Planet as part of the game's release celebration. Dave's game is a combination of resource management, restaurant simulator, fishing, and Eldritch horror all rolled into one game, developed by MintRocket (a subset of the Korean game publishing studio, Nexon. Following his debut game, Dave has expanded his reach to new horizons, trying new professions and bringing his iconic dead-pan, average-Joe character to new audiences.

Dave's latest adventure takes him out of the comfort of the oceans and into outer space as he s the Revenge of the Savage Planet crew. Dave will be available to unlock in the game, "ready to flail across alien worlds like the absolute unit he is," regardless of which version of Savage Planet you own, according to an announcement on the Revenge of the Savage Planet Steam page.

Dave Brings The Spirit Of Exploration To Savage Planet

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a quirky space exploration game developed by Raccoon Logic, led by Alex Hutchinson, who has previously worked on big titles like Far Cry 4, Assassin's Creed 3, and others. The Steam announcement its that Dave's arrival in Revenge of the Savage Planet doesn't make much sense, and that's exactly what makes it so special. "Why Dave?" asks the Steam post, then answers with a silly: "Because it makes absolutely no sense & that’s why we love it."

The two games are very different, from their style to their genres, with Savage Planet featuring Sci-Fi platforming, adventuring, shooting, and collecting. Dave the Diver, meanwhile, is a pixel-art adventure about a SCUBA-diving fisherman who also helps out in a sushi restaurant in a totally normal patch of marine wilderness. Both games, though, share a love for "weirdness, exploration & the occasional unexpected creature encounter." At the end of the day, though, the Raccoon Logic team its it just wanted to "see what Dave would look like with a jetpack on his back." Apparently, "it's majestic."

Dave's travels to outer space in Revenge of the Savage Planet won't be the end of his career trajectory. The relatable diver heads to the jungle in a DLC that was announced for late 2025 last year. The DLC will have Dave swapping his wetsuit for an adventure outfit, and the depths of the Blue Hole for the unknown dangers of the dense jungle.

As Dave expands his resume to other careers, the character's arrival in Revenge of the Savage Planet begins to make more sense. The character will only act as a skin in the game, providing no benefits "but you will look fantastic while screaming through the Zenithian Rift with lava on your back & ice shards in your goggles." The Dave the Diver skin will be available to acquire in every version of the Revenge of the Savage Planet, which launches on May 8 and as a day-one launch title on Xbox Game .
