Discussing his latest project plays Eric Frankenstein in the series, which follows a group of nonhumans working for Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). Though Creature Commandos is an animated release, it is worth noting that the actors within it are set to play their characters in any live-action appearances as well, meaning David Harbour could be appearing as his character in a live-action installment should Frankenstein be involved in its story.
In an interview with Collider, Harbour discussed the future of his role with DC, and how his character could translate into live-action going forward. The actor stated:
I do think it’d be super fun. We talked about it casually. There’s nothing planned, but I talked to him a little bit about the realities of what that would look like in of CG or practical effects, and he had all kinds of different thoughts and ideas.
The actor then elaborated that while he is willing to wait, he thinks the prospect of Frankenstein popping up in a live-action crossover is exciting. Harbour explained:
But I think they’re still building their universe, and that’s fun. As they build it, I think they’re gonna see what people like or what works, and that’s gonna be a component to what they go forward with. But it is such a fun idea to have, like, Batman run into an angry Frankenstein, or Superman, or whatever! It’s just fun that all these characters exist in the same universe, and who knows where they’d end up? It’d be kind of cool.
What David Harbour's Comments Mean For The DCU
David Harbour's comments about his DCU character's future raise the very likely possibility of Eric Frankenstein appearing in whatever live-action release can justifiably contain him so long as his character survives Creature Commandos. The actor has expressed a clear excitement for the role and reprising it down the line, and the prospect of having Harbour physically play the character - with some CG or practical effect adjustments - is one that seems almost too promising to up.
It's also worth noting that the DC Universe has already demonstrated how Harbour's Frankenstein can be a comedic or more genuinely threatening figure, opening the possibility for him to appear in a comedic leaning release, or in a more threatening capacity. With the DCU's Swamp Thing project on the horizon, it's also possible the franchise could be gearing up for a take on the Justice League Dark team, since both characters make notable appearances in the comic version of the team.

With the DC Universe in its first stages, it's exciting to hear about discussions regarding how the animated and live-action sides of the franchise can intermingle, since the DCU will have the same actors playing their characters in both realms. Though it sounds like nothing is set in stone yet, it's also promising to hear that these discussions involve practical ideas about how to translate characters into live-action - especially figures like Eric Frankenstein, who perhaps require more consideration in this regard. Hopefully, David Harbour's live-action DCU debut will happen not long after Creature Commandos itself.
