The reveal trailer for Ubisoft unveiled the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC late in 2021, detailing the first of its plans for AC Valhalla's second year of post-launch content . Notably, the story expansion, which launched this past March, once more places players in the role of Odin as he ventures to the Dwarven realm of Svartalfheim to rescue his son, Baldr.

Since the original Assassin's Creed in 2007, Ubisoft has marketed each Assassin's Creed entry with a cinematic trailer. Many of these CGI reveals count among the best game trailers in the last couple of console generations. The Assassin's Creed Revelations teaser Ubisoft released during E3 2011 especially remains a fan favorite, having marked the first true instance of the franchise's leading Master Assassins crossing over with one another. AC Valhalla upped the ante in this regard by introducing AC Odyssey's Kassandra to Valhalla's Eivor, but the first trailer for Dawn of Ragnarok features an even deeper cut to the Assassin's Creed of old.

The Dawn of Ragnarok cinematic trailer runs just over two minutes in length, showing Odin taking on Muspelheim-born enemies who have invaded Svartalfheim. Quick glimpses of the Allfather's various weapons, tricks, and divine powers take center stage, of course. Yet, one scene roughly halfway through the teaser harkens back to a far simpler time in Assassin's Creed mythos - Assassin's Creed Revelations.

Assassin's Creed - Ezio And Odin Take Arrows To The Shoulder

Ezio narrates the Assassin's Creed Revelations' E3 2011 trailer, which begins with his journey to Masyaf. A third of the way into the video, the Master Assassin finds himself ambushed by a group of Templars, one of whom shoots him with an arrow from afar. The projectile pierces Ezio's right shoulder, slowing him down momentarily before he breaks it off and launches himself into battle against a small army. Interestingly, a near-identical chain of events takes place in the AC Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok teaser trailer.

While walking through the wreckage of a settlement torn asunder, Odin takes an arrow to the right shoulder. Akin to the aforementioned Ezio scene, the ambush surprises the Allfather for but a moment before he breaks the arrow and proceeds to fight an onslaught of enemies. Reddit  Assassin's Creed timeline and universe together, it would hardly come as a surprise if more trailers were to feature similar in-universe references like Dawn of Ragnarök's down the line.
