Partnering with series creator Behaviour Interactive, board game publisher Level 99 has announced Dead by Daylight dating sim is in the works. Trademark aside, the studio has yet to formally announce the supposed spinoff project, yet many fans of the series look forward to what the crew may have up its sleeve in this regard.
Dead by Daylight originally launched on PC in 2016, before migrating to PlayStation and Xbox consoles the following year. Behaviour Interactive has since ported the multiplayer title to several other platforms, including Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS devices. Its core premise of a deranged killer stalking a group of survivors seems to be resonating with millions upon millions of players worldwide. In some part, Dead by Daylight's brand crossovers with the likes of Ringu, Hellraiser, and Stranger Things keeps s coming back for more, though Behaviour Interactive has internally created quite a few formidable horror villains in its own right.
In partnership with Behaviour Interactive, Level 99 plans to launch a Kickstarter on March 29 for Dead by Daylight: The Board Game, a tabletop version of the asymmetrical multiplayer game. Notably, the tabletop adventure will pit two to four Survivors against a lone Killer, tasking the former with repairing generators scattered across the Trial Grounds. Whoever assumes the role of Killer must hunt their fleeing prey one by one. Once pre-orders hit Kickstarter later in the month, backers will have two versions from which to choose - a $50 Standard Edition and $100 Collector's Edition. The latter comes packed with two maps six Killers, and seven Survivors; the Collector's Edition boasts four maps, 16 Killers, and 17 Survivors. Dead by Daylight content from launch to All-Kill, a K-Pop-inspired chapter that launched in March 2021, was what influenced The Board Game's included offerings, according to a press release.
Those who back the Kickstarter can expect to receive Dead by Daylight: The Board Game just in time for Halloween. The final product should hit retailers during the same period as well, meaning Dead by Daylight faithful looking for a new way to celebrate this spooky season will be in luck. Of course, even more information will surface once the Kickstarter goes live in the coming weeks.
Nearly six years after its arrival, the core Dead by Daylight experience continues to receive in the form of free content updates and paid DLC offerings. The next major content rollout, in fact, will launch this month in the form of Dead by Daylight's Ringu crossover, Sadako Rising. Behaviour Interactive's trailers and concept images for the forthcoming release make it seem as though this particular DLC could prove the scariest yet.
