2019 is shaping up to be the biggest year yet for DC Entertainment, with 25 confirmed feature-length films, TV series, and animated movies based on DC Universe streaming service, which was released to wide acclaim last fall.
The lineup of material based on DC Comics' characters is truly astounding, offering a wide variety for all ages and all tastes. There is family friendly fare, such as the new DC Super Hero Girls series; there are more mature works, such as HBO's iZombie, which some fans don't realize was based on a comic book, to begin with.

SHAZAM! - APRIL 5
Foster child Billy Batson is a good-hearted boy, despite a hard-knock life. Chosen by a wizard to become heir to his power, Billy is transformed into a super-powered adult whenever he exclaims the magic word "Shazam." Part of the DC Extended Universe, the early buzz for first trailer from SDCC promising a more light-hearted story than earlier DCEU movies.
Shazam! stars Zachary Levi as the grown-up superhero Shazam and Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana - Shazam's arch-enemy in the comics. The villain's origin is reportedly being changed for the movie, however, with Dr. Sivana now being one who was denied the power of Shazam because of his dark heart rather than a mad scientist determined to prove the superiority of his science over Shazam's magic.

JOKER - OCTOBER 4
Starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime, very little has been said about the story of The Hangover director Todd Phillips. The movie will also star Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro, and Marc Maron. It was originally supposed to be produced by Martin Scorsese, but the filmmaker dropped out of the project and was replaced by Emma Tillinger Koskoff.

TEEN TITANS GO! VS. TEEN TITANS - LATE 2019
Little is known about this animated film, which was first announced through Teen Titans anime. The movie is planned to be released near the end of the year in 2019, though it remains to be seen if it will be a direct-to-video release or a theatrical release.

GOTHAM - JANUARY 3
Based upon the classic comic storyline Batman: No Man's Land, the fifth and final season of Gotham sees the titular city cut off from the outside world. This leads to a war between what few good people remain and the various villains introduced over the past four seasons. All of this sets the stage for Bruce Wayne to take up the mantle of the Dark Knight in order to save his city, as well as have Jim Gordon become the city's police commissioner.

THE FLASH - JANUARY 15
The second-half of has been working for the Reverse-Flash. It remains to be seen if she's a willing pawn or an unwitting dupe, but it seems likely this will end in tears in either case.

Black Lightning season 2 ended on a major cliffhanger, with the Pierce family racing to find wayward daughter, Jennifer, as she skipped town with her ex-boyfriend Khalil, hoping to get him out of the reach of crime-boss Tobias Whale. The remainder of the season will likely see Jefferson Pierce facing off against his arch-enemy directly, as Whale continues in his efforts to turn Freeland into his own personal kingdom. The series is moving to a new time-slot on The CW, now airing on Monday evenings after Arrow.

DOOM PATROL - FEBRUARY 15
The second original live-action series produced for DC Universe, including Teen Titans mainstay Cyborg as part of their line-up. Still, with the promise of weirder characters like Danny The Street also being brought to life, this is one to keep an eye on.

IZOMBIE - SPRING 2019
Based on a Vertigo Comics series, iZombie centers upon Liv Moore - an undead coroner who uses her power to gain a person's knowledge and memories when she eats their brain to solve mysteries. No air date or time has been set for when the show's fifth and final season will air, beyond it airing sometime in the spring of 2019 on The CW.
