DC Comics just released teaser pages for round three of its fan tournament. The DC Round Robin is still underway and as promised, new teaser pages have been revealed. The competition is heating up and the sneak peeks promise some very interesting stories.
The DC Round Robin is a fan vote competition to select an comic title. The competition began on March 31, 2021 and is made up of four rounds. What began as a sixteen title bracket has come down to just four choices. The two winners of this round will go head to head in DC's final match-up.
The current titles remaining in the running are Suicide Squad Seven, Robins, Green Lanterns: Underworld on Fire, and Blue Beetle: Graduation Day. The third round of voting has opened. Green Lanterns is going up against Robins while Suicide Squad Seven is bracketed against Blue Beetle. To help fans decide which title to vote for, DC has provided a single page preview of all four potential titles that reveal more details about each story. Check out the teasers here:
Green Lanterns: Underworld on Fire stars Kyle Rayner. The creative team for the book includes writer Sina Grace, artist V. Ken Marion, colorist Andrew Dalhouse, and letterer Troy Peteri. DC Love is a Battlefield #1 and was included for the Green Lantern 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular. Robins will provide fans with a gathering of Batman's former wards. Its creative team includes writer Tim Seeley, artist Baldemar Rivas, colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr., and letterer Steve Wands. Tim Seeley has lots of experience with the Bat-Family writing issues of Nightwing, Batman Eternal, and Grayson.
Blue Beetle: Graduation Day features Jaime Reyes about to hit a big milestone. The creative team includes writer Josh Trujillo, artist Adrian Gutierrez, colorist Wil Quintana, and letterer Gabriela Downie. Josh Trujillo was involved with Superman: Man of Tomorrow and Wonder Woman: Agent of Peace. Suicide Squad Seven places fan-favorite Harley Quinn in a lead role with a new Suicide Squad created by writer Rex Ogle, artist Diogenes Neves, colorist Rex Lokus, and letterer Tom Napolitano. Rex Ogle also has a few DC issues in his portfolio, including Teen Titans #83-87 ("Coven of Three") and World of Flashpoint #1-3.
In each of the teasers above, new foes and challenges are presented - except in Robins, which instead focuses on a masks-off conversation. Every page that has been released does a good job of revealing the potential of each story, while adding new details and showcasing the final round of the DC Round Robin will present a multi-page preview for both finalists, which these artists will also be creating. Voting for round three of DC Comics fan tournament will close May 12, 2021.
