Jason Aaron is best known as a Marvel powerhouse, thanks to unforgettable runs on Wolverine & the X-Men, Thor: God of Thunder, and more, but few fans he actually launched his career at DC’s Vertigo imprint. Today, he has stormed back into the DC spotlight with the buzz‑worthy Absolute Superman series, and he is already hinting that another DC project is on the horizon.
On Friday, April 18, 2025, Jason Aaron sat down with the Absolute Superman series, which has been topping comic‑sales charts alongside Scott Snyder’s Absolute Batman and Kelly Thompson’s Absolute Wonder Woman.
The DC excitement for Aaron fans does not end with the Man of Steel, though, as the writer also teased that he has another DC project in the works.

After acknowledging the fun he’s been having with Absolute Superman, Aaron revealed that he has more to come for DC, saying, “I've got another book coming out, or that I'm working on for DC right now. That'll be another big character that I've never written before.” This statement is especially exciting from the fan-favorite writer, as it not only confirms that there is a long future ahead of him at DC but also that we will be getting his take on a character he has yet to write. Given that Aaron teases “another big character,” the anticipation of which hero he’s taking on next is incredibly exciting.
In addition to confirming which character Aaron will be working on, it will also be interesting to see which continuity he will explore for this character. For example, this very well could be another Absolute title. However, that seems unlikely, so it’s more probable that Aaron will delve into Earth-Prime continuity or perhaps even an Elseworlds title. No matter the character or continuity, fans will undoubtedly be excited for whatever the writer has in store, given that he has already proven his ability to reimagine characters with decades of history in fresh ways with his Absolute Superman series.

Aaron also reflected on his past, sharing how, during his exclusive contract deals, he was tempted by offers from DC. However, he stayed with Marvel until he realized he had spent 15 years there and wanted to branch out. He its that part of him feels he could have started writing for DC earlier, perhaps Superman or Batman, but ultimately he concluded, “I think I waited till the right time.” Had he made the switch sooner, there would have been no Absolute Superman, he notes. Hence, it's clear that Aaron feels there’s no better time than now to be writing for DC.
