DC Super Hero Girls, Injustice 2, Lego DC Super-Villains and DC Battle Arena. While there has been a lull in DC video games in recent years, with only two titles releasing since 2018, there are more on the way.
The first DC video game was Superman, released in 1979 for the Atari 1600. Since then, titles based on DC's superhero universe have come out with a fairly regular cadence. Some of the best DC video games have included Batman: Arkham City, Injustice 2 and The Wolf Among Us. Unsurprisingly, most DC titles are centered around Batman, as his cache of villains and Gotham city provide a tantalizing backdrop for players. However, some titles do expand to include the rest of the Justice League.
As is typically the case with successful games, rumors abound about potential sequels, though there is little merit. One such example is that Injustice 3 is in development, and though there is nothing confirmed at this time, it would make sense for one of DC's most successful game franchises to continue. Fortunately for fans of the caped crusaders, there are two DC video games confirmed, although neither of them are releasing in 2021.
DC Video Games
- Gotham Knights (2022)
- Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League (2022)
Gotham Knights is an open-world RPG and will either single-player or two-person co-op at launch.
Justice League is being controlled by Brainiac, wreaking havoc on civilization. Amanda Waller has called on the Suicide Squad, composed in this adaptation of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark and Captain Boomerang. All four characters are playable, and at launch Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will solo play and up to four player co-op. The game promises to be a unique adventure showcasing some of DC's strongest characters.
