Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7

Although the majority of the Nightwing will start a brand-new legacy that goes beyond the League.

As seen in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 from Joshua Williamson and Daniel Sampere, the final chapter features the original Justice League having returned from the grave after they were effectively killed by Pariah. However, Green Arrow is the one Leaguer who's still lost. That being said, the stabilization of the returned Infinite Earths and the defeat of the corrupted Deathstroke was all thanks to Dick Grayson's Nightwing, proving that all heroes can walk together as a united legacy, combating the idea that older heroes are somehow more heroic. Recognizing this truth, the concept of the Justice League is officially dead and Batman wants Grayson to help figure out what should take its place.

Batman Confirms Justice League is Dead in Dark Crisis

It certainly seems as though DC really wants to shake things up for this new publishing era. Even if Nightwing simply leads a new team in the near future, it stands to reason that it won't be known as the Justice League. After all, Batman says that they need to look beyond simply adding new . The world needs a systemic change in the face of this new era, one where all kinds of opportunities will be presenting themselves in the face of a brand new multiverse to be explored.

Likewise, Nightwing's ideas are likely in line with his statements when he defeated Slade Wilson's Deathstroke. Case in point, Dick Grayson believes the true legacy of DC's heroes is all of them united as one force, potentially hinting that a revolving roster of different heroes could be formed depending on individual threats. As such, this will likely prove to be extremely helpful, seeing as how Amanda Waller and her new Suicide Squad has been tasked by the Council of Light to destroy all the world's meta humans.

Leaving the concept of the Justice League behind in the comics is quite a shock to the status quo, though perhaps not so surprising when considering the largely League-less state of the DCU on-screen. Either way, the prospect of Nightwing ushering in a new united force is incredibly exciting, marking him as of the most important heroes DC currently has (his great sales certainly don't hurt either). Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 is on sale now from DC Comics.
